OK, here's the scene.

My bed is a futon that is about.... 8" or so off the ground, on a platform. I love this; I know some people look down on futons, but I really like having a bed that is set low on the ground, and even with a "real mattress" I'd want to use this kind of base. For a nightstand, I have identical blond-wood-veneer cube tables on caster wheels, one on each side. These are about 6" taller than the upper surface of the bed (which is maybe 14" or so off of the floor). On the side of the bed I use most often, I have a lamp, which looks like the Eiffel Tower and has a square black shade (which I have to replace, because the movers didn't pack it correctly and it's completely ruined). The shade is like... a faux nubbly silk, and the square echoes the shape of the table and the shape of the base of the lamp.

My question is: given that I have an identical table on the other side of the bed, and this is My Furniture for the forseeable future, should I pick up another Eiffel Tower lamp for the other table? They don't cost that much. However, having two sort of works against the novelty of having an Eiffel Tower lamp in the first place. I could go with no lamp on that side (which is really unbalanced from a decorating standpoint, but suits my lifestyle), or I could put a harmonious but not identical lamp over there (I'm thinking some kind of silver "candlestick" lamp with the same shade on it).

Any opinions or ideas?
Another Eiffel Tower, a similar but different lamp, or nothing?

No, keep the Eiffel Tower unique.

However, I'll bet you could probably find another architectural landmark lamp if you surf around.

I hope so. But it has to be cheap (the Tower was only $30 plus shade) and it also has to be a sort of silver-chrome color. It would be perfect if I could find one shaped like Big Ben or something! (they'd even be on appropriate sides of the bed, haha... and most of my sheets are blue, so i could call it the English Channel.)

as it is, tho, i'll probably just end up getting something like what Cydniey posted above... a less complicated lamp of similar size and color.
