Blah day. Unfocussed. My big accomplishment was to move a bunch of video tapes (those I want to keep out until I move) up from the box they were in (on the floor next to the TV in my living room) into the linen closet, where I'd cleared off most of a shelf. An overflowing file box of tapes fit neatly onto about 1/2 of a shelf in my linen closet, which mostly shows that the linen closet is Big and Filled With Crap. Other than that, I um... lost a bunch of games of Beleaguered Castle Solitaire (HARD!), won some games of Doublets, came pretty close with Baker's Dozen, watched The Usual Suspects, and had a headache. I now have not typed a single word for [livejournal.com profile] intensefragilty in A WEEK, which is bad. I do plan to work tomorrow. In my defense, I have been doing reading and research this whole time.

So J-girl just dropped me a line and told me she's been reading this - hi J! Let me know if you want to start a LJ; I have a gazillion codes from being an early adopter and then a 3-year paid member**. I'd set it up for you and everything. I wish I could come up with a way for you to meet [livejournal.com profile] lulabellafp, as you guys now live in the same Bostonian neighborhood.

In the "screamingly funny" department: there is some kind of dog event at a local park in a few weeks, with trainers and so on, set up so that you can take your dog to hang out with other dogs and to try agility courses, etc. My mother suggested that we take [livejournal.com profile] arwen_isobel to it, but then amended, "But I really want to be out of here by then." Yeah, mom, OK, that's going to happen! (I wish I knew for sure when I'm moving, but my best guess would be, assuming the house sells quickly, and it should: Novemberish. *SOB*)

**LJ should be set up so that if you've been a member for 4 years or more, you get all the benefits of a "lifetime" account - extra pics and all - but you still pay for them. It makes me dizzy to think that I've pumped around $80 into my membership already....
and yes, I did delete the latter part of this paragraph, mainly to remove a babbling reference to something entertaining that I did the last time I visited J-girl. We'll see about the DFH thing - I think said projected victim must be on his knees every night praying that I fall into a whirlwind romance - and soon -
Well, I was up late late late last night with a headache. (By late I mean 8AM.) I reread parts of Lirael, which I'd never finished, and forged ahead with the parts I hadn't read, and finally slept when I was too exhausted to stay awake, headache or no.

Woke up today, a couple of hours ago, to the news that a realtor would be here to look at the house in half an hour.

Now, if you know me or my house, you know that half-an-hour is NOT enough warning to get the house ready for a realtor's visit. It is barely enough time, in fact, to wake up and put on some clothing that doesn't look like yoga wear. The realtor wants to sell the house "low" and I'm not surprised.

Oops, wait, newsflash - around $175K and the realtor expects it to sell easily and quickly. We have to unclutter a lot in the next few days; it goes on the market on Friday.
hee hee... go say hi to J-girl:

[livejournal.com profile] jeca_pereca
(by the way, if you are not from Eastern Europe, you will probably need a pronunciation key: I think it's pronounced like "Yetza Peretza". I'm sure J. will step up and correct if I am wrong.)

sooner or later I will con absolutely everyone I know into getting a livejournal....
(except the momster, who has a journal that I made for her on Blurty.com.)
i mean who needs "friendster" when you have LJ?

spee-shus.

Someone should totally buy speciousness.net or speciousness.com or whatever - if they aren't already owned. it looks like "specious.net" is.

Um, I just got back from a trip to pick up fun necessities like pet food. I can assure you that my pets eat much better than I do. I did at least spring $5 for vitamins.

In the "too weird to resist" category, we have a NAKED MOLE-RAT BEANIE DOLL.
WTF?

I mean, really really - WTF?

Must be seen to be believed. He's the "cute animal sidekick" on a kids' show. I actually bought cheaper mascara than my usual just so that I could afford him. Photos assuredly forthcoming tonight. So very very.

(Oh, yeah, re my last post: I have recently netted a phonecall apology and a pint of icecream over it.)

My dog ate more floor while I was gone. Floor-patching commences probably tomorrow. I also need to use my can of white appliance epoxy on the stove hood (almond, with a white stove = no!)

I bought change-of-address cards at the Hallmark store tonight, then got to the car and saw to my horror that I'd paid $8 for a pack of 10. Well, really - what the hell did I go to design school for? I'm gonna whip me out some similar puppies and return those. (though they are neat - they look like antique paper tags and even have twine looped through the top hole -)
I promised pictures of the very odd toy I bought tonight, and here it is (I took two and put the other under the lj-cut). His name is "Rufus" and he is apparently the Cute Animal Sidekick on the show Kim Possible, which I've never seen but now may be forced to check out. Because I really need to know some of the inner workings of the mind that thinks naked mole-rats are the appropriate small animal to be a Cute Animal Sidekick on children's television. I understand when the creator of something like the deliriously twisted comic Skelebunnies does a big feature on naked mole-rats (including a cute illustrated boardgame) in his zine, but Disney, I do not understand.

For comparison, check out some information on real naked mole-rats. They are quite mysterious and odd and sometimes sad little animals. One wonders: Are they moles, or rats? (the latter - sort of.) Why are they naked? Shouldn't someone make them little sweaters?
