yo, people, is it time for a throwdown? that last friends-only entry, posted 7 hours ago, contained the thing that at least 6 of youse said you'd read and comment to confirm you'd read it and all. not a single one of you has fessed up to having read it yet! :P

i am having a huge argument with my momster, who thinks i can live on air and the occasional grilled cheese sandwich. i've been trying to get her to go to walmart superstore (only grocery open on a sunday night) ALL EVENING. it becomes more and more of an Issue as the night goes on because the lateness gives her another excuse. She hates spending money, hates grocery shopping, hates WalMart, and above all, hates going out this late at night (but also wouldn't go at like 8PM when I initially asked her to go with me. We have so little food in the house. I've been eating mostly cereal for the past few days BECAUSE IT'S REALLY ALL THERE WAS, and now we're out of milk. I don't know what the hell she eats aside from dipping into my food (there are no frozen enchiladae left).

Hungry hungry hungry, but we're leaving.
Lest you all think that I am being starved, I must report that the momster apologized almost immediately after my last entry. We toddled off to Denny's, where I was fed, and to WalMart, where we bought more groceries than you can shake a stick at. Unfortunately I am now pretty ill, but that's unrelated to either. My stomach actually HURTS. I was sick in the bathroom at WalMart.

In a related (to being ill) incident, I got my other dress that I bought on ebay recently and it also didn't fit AT ALL, and it was in even grosser condition than the last. Hey sellers, if you are picking up stuff in thrift stores or whatever, GET IT DRYCLEANED FIRST. The last one had a heavy perfume smell (which made me totally nauseous), but was clean. This one had crusty old deodorant in the underarms and a musty attic smell, both of which are making my already upset stomach turn and twist at lightning speed. And the prices I paid for them were more "consignment" than "thrift".

Meanwhile, WalMart has these really pretty velvet and brocade dresses, jackets, skirts, etc. Viscose, made in India. I picked up a gorgeous cherry colored dress with a velvet top, ribbon drawstring waist, and brocade broomstick skirt for $20, and a matching patchwork embroidered velvet jacket with black brocade ribbon trim for the same price. They're both the wrong size, so I'll have to address that... but seriously, when I can pick up better girly velvet stuff at WalMart than on ebay, the ebay clothes market is in trouble.

I also bought Beyond Balderdash. Which you should own (or original Balderdash), if you don't already. It's great.

Oh - related: I did a total geek thing this morning and wrote to Games Workshop begging them to rerelease Talisman and its expansion sets. Words cannot express how much I love that game; it's my favorite. They wrote back saying they'd love to but they don't have the license anymore. But I want a Talisman set soooooooo bad, I just can't bring myself to shell out the $300+ that it sells for on the aforementioned evil auction site.
Blah. Sick stomach all day.

I dragged myself out to the art store before it closed, because we're running out of primary paints. I went for jars instead of tubes this time - initial outlay is more expensive, but it's like buying in bulk - a jar holds twice as much as a tube but usually costs $2-4 less than buying two tubes. And since we're going to be using A LOT of this paint in the near future...

I got my beloved bistre conté, too, and some brushes and some parchment-look paper to make up for that ridiculously unsuccessful tea-staining attempt of last week.

Went down to Toys R Us with the intention of buying a dice game. Well, I didn't find it. I did find (and didn't buy) POWERPUFF GIRLS MONOPOLY. Then, I also found (and did buy) these cute little Tenchi Muyo action figures, and a Li Mu Bai from CTHD, and a couple of Rudolph figures for my mom. I returned some books to B&N. Headed over to WalMart, exchanged my dress (never thought I would actually buy a dress at WalMart, but there you have it), picked up more of the intensely delicious Cinnamon Streusel bread, another 200-cd holder book (because I am sick of tripping over cds), and a simply stunning copy of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace on DVD, which I'd been looking for last night and been unable to find.

The arguments for and against Ep 1 are as such. "Jar Jar Binks!" "Yes, but Queen Amidala!" "But - THE KID!" "Yeah, but Darth Maul!" - you get the picture. I have the Amidala paper doll book. You know where I stand.

Now, me and my sick stomach are going to go do lots of homework and attempt to hold down the zucchini we just ate. Sigh.
