crap-a-thon revisited

Well, finished with Mists part two. Better than expected... lots of the problems with the first one (crappy flashbacks and flat dialogue) didn't carry through into the second half. I always found the book's Morgaine very whiny and manipulative and self-righteous; she comes off more sympathetically in the film. I don't think Gwenhwyfar is any more sympathetic, just different... maybe less tortured, but also maybe even less interesting or likeable. Morgause is much more villainous than she was in the novel, IIRC, but it's been 9 years since I read it.
So, part two was not exactly a crap-a-thon. Damn.

In other news, my eye and throat are now behaving... yay! and the dinner I planned was delicious and satisfying. I'm going to try to read for a bit and get a good night's sleep. I'm bogged down in a terribly boring section of the book I'm reading, so I might either skip that section or pick up a different book for a while.

Oh yeah... knock wood that Jet's computer becomes a Happy Mac again!

I stayed up too late last night cleaning up some mailboxes that I haven't bothered to read in a long time, and setting up a few new ones. I'm getting out of chocofan webmail as far as LJ goes. So I should get information about replies a lot more frequently (due to the fact that the mail will be about a thousand times easier to check).

Going to see Final Fantasy tonight, on a whim. I'm not expecting much more besides eyecandy. I can't even remember the movies I wanted to see... there was Shrek and... ? Saw Moulin Rouge, but there was one other that opened more recently. Oh, it was AI. Hm. (You have just seen how my thought processes and questionable powers of recall are working lately.)

One of my ebay items from last month has been seriously deadbeated, and another that I expected to be successful didn't sell at all. They were the higher-ticket items. So that's like $50 I need that I don't have. Maybe I should work on that tonight after I get home from the moo-vies. I did pretty well with the last lot of stuff; it would be nice to do so again. My domain hosting for this year runs out in like two months, so I need to raise money for it before then. I also want to pay down my credit card.

Bleh. I need to find cheaper ways of having fun.
