Amusingly, but maybe a little TOO fluffy for me: Slave To Target.

Seriously, people, aside from my well-documented "luv&devotion"* to the place, as much as I'm ever going to have for any huge retail chain, I mostly go there weekly because they have some of the cheapest groceries in town. When everyone else had gone to $.66 per Yoplait yogurt, they held fast at around $.53. They sell the Tyson frozen chicken breasts that I use constantly (recommended by Cook's Illustrated!) for $9/bag, as opposed to the $11 that Kroger charges. (Giant Eagle charges as much as Kroger and doesn't carry anything but their store brand.)

Also: boleros** were not really friend to many in 1988 or whenever they were last popular. They are unlikely to have improved their disposition with time. Hark! (Admittedly, they do flatter a few very specific figure types.)

* That may be overstating it. I just prefer it to WalMart or Kmart, and I've gotta buy mascara and Mucinex somewhere....
** Is this the year when they just randomly revive old trends that have Spanish-language-inspired names? Bolero? Gaucho? That does means that sombreros are going to be this winter's indispensible hat... right?

ETA - speaking of which, I totally want THIS. Too awesome.

DID YOU GET THE VADER M&M HOLDER THAT IS LIKE A LITTLE GOBLET? THEY MADE ONES THAT LOOK LIKE CHEWIE AND YODA TOO? $7?

I ask because I have been to every Target in Columbus looking for that damn thing. Tom really wanted it for his bday but had to settle for Yoda, which he also likes. He still wants to get Vader and Chewie.

They also made a pretty cool thing that is like a Vader cookie jar and costs $15... is that the one you got?

Yeah, its the Vader cookie jar for $15 -- but its weird, 'cause it CAN be a cookie jar, but the sticker on it said: "M&M holder", and it came with some M&Ms already in it.

But there's an M&M goblet!??!?!! I didn't even see those there!!!! Holy crap, thats amazing!!!

If your store is following the patterns of the ones around here, the goblets sell out before the jars, probably because the goblets are cheaper. vader sells out first, then yoda, then chewie. they're also very prone to chipping, which was why we didn't get vader when we should have... first we couldn't afford him, then when we could, we could only find 2 and both had chips. now they're GONE and tom is sad!
(OK, i'm sad too. they would have been excellent to line up on a shelf with my NRFB light-up Lord of the Rings glass goblets from Burger King. Which I had to have because they were OMG SO KITSCHY.)

Probably, because when we were we didn't even see the goblets. And really, anything in a goblet form is amazing. It's so funny that you mention that Vader sells out first, then Yoda, then Chewie...I would have guessed the same pattern!

I remember those LOTR goblets from BK -- my sister loves LOTR, she would have been all over those!

Totally unrelated to Star Wars, or LOTR, but as far as goblets go:

Over the summer, when I went on vacation to South Carolina, my aunt & uncle from North Carolina drove down to take us out to eat and spend two days with us. Well, when they took us out for dinner, we went to a Mexican chain restaurant, and they served him beer in a big goblet. Now, my moms boyfriend got his beer served to him in a goblet, in fact, everyones drink came in a goblet (which I thought was awesome). All of a sudden, my uncle, flagged down the waitress and said: "Can I have a different glass, this is not a proper beer glass" (now my uncle is kind of those rather traditional and conservative people that everyone hears about from time to time). But I was sitting there, thinking, 'how could anyone not want any sort of beverage served to them in a goblet?'

Weird.
