Ali-ASS

OK, seriously, seriously, seriously. I am renaming Alias. It will henceforth be known as Ali-ASS. Because that show jumped the shark last year. In fact, all JJ Abrams's shows jump the shark when he goes to work on his next major TV project: Felicity sank in earnest with the advent of Alias, so I thought there was a pretty good chance that Alias would quickly become lame once Lost was on the air. And it is, and it did, and so on. And I don't believe for two minutes together the stuff that happened at the end of the episode, even if they are currently saying it's for real.

Though the end of tonight's episode did finally cause my mom to disavow the show and any interest therein. I like to punish myself (I watched The X-Files religiously up until the last season or so, and even then I caught all key episodes and skipped MOTW episodes), so I'll probably keep watching it. Actually, it resembles The X-Files in a bunch of ways in the last year or so.

So does NightStalker, but at least that show has an excuse... it's a remake of the show that inspired The X-Files. Wasn't so hot, but didn't completely suck. "At least," Tom said, "it's better than Invasion."

Ummm... I watched last night's Lost tonight, too. Much better.

I think we've now pretty much covered all the new TV shows. My viewing schedule will probably pretty much slide back to Lost, Veronica Mars, and Gilmore Girls (which has also been sucktastic in the last year or so, but whatever). TV is bad for you.

Those are my three shows too!

If only Rory would stop being such a entitled, whiny baby -- she makes me hate the half of the show devoted to her.

I think I hate Logan. I'm not really sure. All I know is that when he arrived on the scene, the show went downhill. I really didn't like last season. I hate Dean. I love Lane, but not with Zach. Dunno what else to say about that.

I miss Jess. He was trouble, but he was still a cool kid.

Why can I not kick some of TPTB in the head for putting Veronica on opposite Lost?

As usual, I am so glad I don't watch Alias.

I expect Lost to go downhill sometime in the 3rd or 4th season provided it doesn't start earlier. Right now, I'm still amused by the actors and the dialogue and the interactions to worry about the plots making sense or anything.

supposedly they have 8 years of stories, but some of the backstories are just booooooring. i think judging by the past record that there is a good chance it'll start to collapse if JJA creates another show.

i fucking loathe felicity in reruns, alas, and i'm so disappointed with Alias... yes, be glad you don't watch it. or watch the first two or three seasons and pretend it ends there, prior to nadia being intro'd. there isn't anything really wrong with nadia, it's just that the show started to really blow around the time she came on. i think season one should start on TNT at 6PM in about three weeks or so.

I've enjoyed most of the backstories except for Jack's (snooooooze) and some of Kate's and some of Sayid's. I'm hoping that maybe the fact that JJ isn't the only one running the show on Lost that'll be a little bit better but then again look what happened to Buffy when Joss turned to Angel and then Angel when Joss turned to Firefly (or so I was told. I never watched Angel).

I never liked Keri Russell so I have never been able to even watch a frame of Felicity. Just couldn't wrap my brain around it cos she scares me. I might try Alias in reruns. It worked for Buffy and me so anything is possible.

Keri Russell looks really pretty from some angles at some times in some shots. Then they catch her smiling, and there's a point at which her eyes get kind of beady and her grin looks fake and fatuous and SUDDENLY SHE IS A SCARY MONKEY GIRL.

Alias in reruns would not be the same as Buffy - Buffy has very good dialogue and characterization, whereas Alias's charm is mostly in plot, structure, and a few really addictive characters (it's all about Marshall The Geeky Tech Dwarf, and Vaughn being hot, unless you don't like Michael Vartan, in which case the Vaughn factor is out the window). Alias has higher production values, too.

I have the same visceral response to Jennifer Garner which is why I've avoided Alias too. Only Jennifer is a SCARY HORSE GIRL.

I am neutral about Michael Vartan -- I do have friends who are obsessive over him though. I might check it out or I might not. It's not that big a deal.

I can deal with Jennifer Garner now... or at least I could before she started dating Affleck (and let him impregnate her with his demon seed! and married him!). But I used to really hate her because, actually, I hated the simpy little snot she played on Felicity. I didn't watch Alias most of the first season because I haaaaated her so much.

Now, like I said... only the first two or three seasons of Alias are worth watching, and no, don't make a big deal out of it. You'll love Marshall, and Vartan *is* cute for a French dude, but. Still.

it wasn't you. the show has a weird mood, too. i liked the "piano playing, carl is talking" sequences except for the text overlays. (tom squealed, "BEWARE THE SCARY TEXT!" and I replied, "HELVETICA IS DEADLY!") but the show itself is, so far, too much like Xfiles. which may not even be fair. i'll give it a few more weeks at most.
