Not too much going on here in the last few days. A couple of necessary shopping trips; bought some birthday presents for the doggie. The cats have these cloth toys stuffed with catnip and crinkly noisemaking plastic, and Arwen has tried to adopt these toys as her own several times. One looks like a frog and another like a butterfly. Well, it turns out that they make the frog in a version for dogs: much larger size, with a squeaker in it, instead of catnip. The punchline is that, despite the lack of catnip, Nicholas tried to steal it from Arwen as soon as he saw it. He even smacked her in the face. It's hilarious that she's afraid of him - and she is - because he's less than half her size, and normally pretty good-natured.
Today I have to do one more shopping trip to be caught up for the week, but this is a returning trip.
I have to admit that I have been kind of, um, rooting for Nate to die, based on the fact that he's been such an incredible asshole all season and on the fact that A) I knew someone was going to die and B) signs pointed to him. I've been watching the TelevisionWithoutPity SFU spoiler board and have seen people speculating, based on episode descriptions, that what happened would actually happen, and when Nate had his famous "Numb arm... narm! narm!" moment at the end of the last episode, my response was more like, YEAH! than OH NO NOT NATE! (Which was my response the last time Nate almost died.) My NateHate coalesced when he killed the bird at his birthday party. I don't feel particularly bad about this, since he's a fictional character who was clearly making all the other fictional characters miserable.
Nonetheless, I got sniffly when he actually DID die. Even though his last contact with his wife and daughter was to ignore his daughter while dumping his wife. I'm wondering what will happen with Maya's custody? Hopefully ppl (Lisa's relatives, Ruth) will think about what's better for MAYA and not take her away from the only mother she knows. It's also possible that she could end up with David and Keith, if for some reason they don't keep their adorable juvies.

Date: 2005-08-02 03:26 am (UTC)(Actually, Tom's apartment = bastion of peace, because he has no cable or internet. You can either watch a DVD/VHS there, or you can do something else while listening to music. It's a very productive place, except when he puts on a !!! cd.)
& I always remember that there was a pet Person To Hate (or two) every season: in season one, I thought David was an irredeemable loser, but now he's my favorite. I always liked Claire, but she was pretty insufferable by the end of the last season, and now seems to be getting better. Always liked Brenda, but thought she was awful in her second-season "casual anonymous sex" phase, and didn't like it when she cheated on Joe with Nate, even tho at the time I wanted her to get back together with Nate (Joe still deserved better). Didn't like Billy most of the time, but loved him from the time he took over teaching duties at Claire's school to the end of last season. Never liked Brenda & Billy's creepy, selfish parents; never liked Olivier; never liked Anita (Claire's artschool friend); liked Russell until he slept with Olivier and have hated him since. Never liked Lisa, even though I like Lili Taylor, and it follows that I couldn't stand her family, except her niece Michaela. Wanted Ruth to hook up with both her major relationships (Nikolai and George) but really disliked them by the time she broke up with them, and have always thought that Ruth is kinda nuts. Etc.
So even though I really didn't want Nate to die at the end of S2, when he had his AVM surgery, I've been gunning for it since like ep 3 this season. He's been such an asshat. And unlike other SFU characters who behave like asshats for an extended number of episodes, he's not getting a chance to redeem himself.
(your icon here says it all. heck, i feel like that MOST of the time. i just want to go into a corner and hug: my dog, a stuffed animal, a pillow, in order of preference. but that has little to do with SFU, most of the time... ;)
