Off to sleep! I was curiously exhausted all day today; I think I overdid it this weekend. So all I was able to manage today was heating up dinner (which almost caused me to have to take a nap), taking care of Arwen, and riding to the library to return some stuff (yeah, I had to have someone else drive).
I'm alarmed because my face, neck, and upper chest area is covered with small reddish bumps... not quite pimples, not quite a rash. Started a week ago on my chest. No idea what's causing it. I think the bumps on my face (different in number/texture/density from the ones on my chest) may be caused by a cream I've been sampling, Aveeno Skin Brightening Moisturizer. I had a similar reaction to L'Oreal Transformance, and I think it's because of all the mica they put in these creams to make them "brighten." It just makes the skin more reflective. The last time I recall my temples and forehead being this broken-out was the summer of 1991. At the time I quit using Clinique products, thinking they were the culprits, although now I don't think they actually caused the rash. Lots of tiny red bumps, some with whitish centers. Mostly I'm just leaving them alone.
I screened all comments to my last post... not because of what anyone else said, but because of some comments I made to a friend that I do not wish to become controversial. I can think of at least two different groups of people who might take issue with some of them. A lot of them are things I've said in other contexts, and will say again in other ways, so nobody's missing anything.

Date: 2005-07-06 06:22 pm (UTC)Then again, I also have lots of little bumps on my arms that weren't there before last week.
I do use Cetaphil, and for facial moisturizer I usually use Purpose or L'Oreal Future-E. Sometimes I use my main everyday lotion, Curel Ultra-Healing, as a night cream. It's very gentle and moisturizing. Regular Aveeno lotion works too, just not this Skin Brightening face moisturizer.

Date: 2005-07-06 07:56 pm (UTC)of course, i too have some weird bumps on my arms and across my back right now, so who knows. those didn't appear until i got back here, and my skin's been kind of tight-feeling and itchy, so i'm thinking my body just isnt handling the fairly extreme climate changes very well. (StL was near-100 and humid every day; SF is, well, not that at all :P)
my own ongoing skin drama is that i've had this awful, dry, itchy, rash-prone skin my entire life, and i've tried everything dermatologists could come up with, and now i've FINALLY found the only good lotion in the world, and it's Lush Dream Cream and it's *so* not actually in my budget. it's like $20 for the little tub. i suppose it's kind of a blessing that i have 2 Lush stores within easy walking distance so i don't have to pay their crazy shipping fees, but still. i truly envy anyone who can actually make do with those gargantuan bottles of store brand lotion that sell for less than $2!

Date: 2005-07-07 06:04 am (UTC)We even tried Creme de la Mer at one point. It's very moisturizing - almost suffocatingly so - but not really any more special than, say, Vaseline. Bag Balm is a fine substitute that costs like 5% as much.
The stuff I wish I could afford is Clinique's RepairWear night cream ($45). And since I'm GETTING OLD DAMMIT I need to find a decent eyecream again. In the interim I just use Curel.
