Hee -- I didn't think Mackenzie Astin was that obscure but then again, I remember him from such dramatic roles as Andy on The Facts of Life and of course, Tony Jr. in the I dream of Jeannie reunion film. ;) (It's actually just cos for some reason I am aware of more of Patty Duke's life than I ought to be)
When I saw his name in the credits tonight, it was like "Oh, gee, wonder how he got the job?"
OH. I didn't even notice that was him. I thought you meant an actor who PLAYED Sam's brother in LOTR (which would have been a bg extra to begin with, and I was under the impression that Sam didn't have a brother). But yeah, I know Mac Astin... actually, he was the one I had a crush on in like 1987, but I think Sean is cooler now.
Mac was in that memorable yet terrible Ione Skye movie Dream for an Insomniac, too.
LOL Nope, I was really going for the stretch there. I was surprised you didn't know who Mac Astin was because, well, you seem like someone who should.
I didn't see that Ione Skye film. I'm guessing I dodged a bullet there.
(At least you didn't yell at me for explaing who Mac was -- I had mentioned Daniel Dae Kim in passing last week because I saw someone who basically could have been his slightly younger brother hanging outside of the theatre where Spamalot is playing and one of my LJ readers didn't know and seemed to take offense that I went babbling on about various cast members on the show AND mentioned Ian Buchanan in the middle of stuff too... it was not a dis on her for not knowing, just me being utterly spud-tastic in knowing about this kind of crap.)
