Much better day at work today; back to contentment. The week will get busier as it goes on. Friday is going to be a bear, with two big luncheons that I have to oversee... at the same time. I have been reading Madeleine is Sleeping by Sarah Shun-Lien Bynum on my breaks. It's strange and "original", but the kind of original that feels patched together from other original places... in this case, it feels like a cousin to Einstein's Dreams as seen through a lens of Jeanette Winterson's Sexing the Cherry and the movie Moulin Rouge. A very fast read as no chapter is longer than about two pages, and many take only half a page. This book has lots of whitespace.

Today was Tom's and my first anniversary. We... didn't do anything! I picked him up from work and took him to the comic shop, the grocery store, and to pick up a burrito. I then snuggled with him as he ate the burrito, and we watched the extras on the Undercover Brother DVD. He got it from the library on my recommendation and was not disappointed. (He's a Dave Chappelle fan, so I figured that if nothing else, he'd at least enjoy Conspiracy Brother.) After about fifteen minutes of this I had to go home, to get ready for bed.

I am very, very, very tired, and I have to get up in six hours, so it's time to sign off.
(I am only online this late because Dreamhost now owes me a chunk of credit, and I wanted to see if they'd given it to me.)

Friday night a lady band called Shesus is playing at a local club, but I don't think I'll be up for going (too loud and too late). I explained to Tom why not, but he still kept pushing it. We were sitting in a coffee house, having our "anniversary date" a day late this evening - we are going out as much as we can this week to celebrate - and after I explained again, he piped up, "You have denied Shesus twice! Will you deny Shesus a third time before morning?"

I sat there absolutely dumbstruck and burst out laughing a second later.
