I have not used Paint Shop Pro in over 5 years.

It shows.

It's frustrating.

My kingdom for Photoshop! :D

Anyway, here is the first icon in the LOTR series I'm working on. It's not my best, but some people might want to use it. Words are lyrics from "Strawberry Gashes" by Jack Off Jill, actually, which is a song about a sick girl and a friend who can't save her.

If you want to use, go ahead - just save it to your computer for uploading, comment here, and be sure to credit to verbminx in your keyword - the usual icon stuff.

whoah...lyrics borrowed from sleater-kinney (http://www.lyricsdepot.com/sleater-kinney/good-things.html)?

i wouldn't be surprised!

i don't like sleater-kinney that much, but i do like that song a lot. thx for reminding me the lyric also occurs there. i'm pretty sure that "strawberry gashes" came out at least a couple of years later than "good things". but unlike "good things" it isn't an upbeat or hopeful song - it's pretty much a dirge.

if you're saying what i think you're saying,
which is that i'm not gonna be happy with my PSP results if i'm used to photoshop (albeit a version of photoshop that is comparable to a 1994 Honda),

you're probably right.

i don't really like this icon. it needs help. i'll probably overhaul it.
but i spent so much time on it that i thought someone over on [livejournal.com profile] lotricons might like it or something.

well, that too.

i just keep seeing icons of the "my fandom is warm and fuzzy, like hobbit feet!" variety in various communities. i like you, so it's not as annoying...but i really wanted to make an icon that says "my fandom drives a yugo" just to annoy those people.

oh, THOSE. yeah. haha. i like this one ("utterly ridiculous"), but i haven't liked any of the others i've seen. there was one from the person who made this that was also ok, that said "is a wee bit too fond of forced perspective", showing a shot that depended on forced perspective. that one is probably only funny to art/film/design-school types, which is why not too many ppl seem to use it.

Sure, if you'd like to trade, that'd be fine. I still don't know how to use Photoshop very well and have been stuck to Paint Shop Pro 5 for basic tasks, for years!

You know, I tried PSP 8, and once I found I couldn't do the simple things simply, then I simply went back to PSP 5. :) (I'll be returning my membership card from Geeks Anonymous in the morning.)

Wow, Photoshop 4! Maybe that's the route I need to take. I have to be all cutting edge with things like Illustrator 10 and Photoshop 7, and Dreamweaver UltraDev 4.

i have illustrator 8 (i think?), photoshop 4, dreamweaver 2. they, um, work for me, kinda. i sorta want an updated photoshop. dreamweaver might be OK. i don't need a newer illustrator, i don't use it that much.

I have never used Illustrator, apart from work, so it amounts to a figurehead and nothing more. Until I finally break down and buy a digicam Photoshop is probably going to be unnecessary and overkill for what I usually use PSP for (like, LJ icons, for instance). I reinstalled XP about a month back and Dreamweaver's really the only productivity application I've bothered to reinstall.
