I took pics of all the cosmetic damage to my back room, but I'm too drained to do all the dumb little things that it would take to get them onto the web, so that'll have to wait until tomorrow. I'm not really sure how much a few crushed-in areas on a door frame and some baseboard ripped from a wall is interesting, anyway. I think I took about 10-12 pictures.
After that I went out to avoid the new potentials (who I think know that the house is in contract, anyway) - left early, used my I Eat Too Many Sandwiches award at Quizno's - the stamp card that gets you $5 off when it's filled - to get dinner, went home and ate it and gave some to my mom, then took off across town to watch the ducks at the main library park. I had initially planned to actually go into the library, but I found that I could type on my laptop quite well in the car. I got querelous and pouty every time I saw a kid chasing the ducks, then noticed that the kids were chasing the ducks to give them food, and that if the ducks did not do their halfhearted running from kids, they would be obese ducks with heart problems. So the kids provide treats and aerobic exercise. One of the ducks had gotten up into a tree - there are also nests up there - I think the ducks secretly hang out up there whenever they feel like it but are actually cautiously attracted by the people in the park.
Then I drove home along the river and it was near sunset. The water was steel grey and the clouds in the sky were a brilliant rose-pink.
I came home again - people gone - and knitted on Skylark through two episodes of CSI. I'm up to the third cable cross, which means that pretty soon I will be doing the split for the neck. (The first cross is at the hem, so the third is about halfway up the front, with the last one being left before the split for the V-neck. Two complete "ovals" have been formed so far.) Then I just have the sleeves left and it will be done, I hope in time for winter & my move. This is made of Colinette Tagliatelli, which is a somewhat wide tape yarn made of merino wool that feels velvety and spongy when it's knitted up. The colors are a melange of deep turquoises and sea greens, from almost white to almost black. I'll post pics here (and on the knitting blog, of course) when I'm done with it.
