Houseguest is going to the hospital: she has the symptoms of too much lithium in her blood & the psychotic break was probably caused by A)the stress of vacationing B)sleep issues. She is very, very apologetic and embarrassed. I'm glad we "caught" her before she did too much damage.

My "what the fuck is going on?" state is now calmed. I have Custody of Kid, have put on anime for her to keep her as happy as possible, and am taking her out to the DIY pottery-painting place, because she can be occupied there and I can study. After that, probably going to take her to the arcade or something. This will keep her occupied while moms are at the hospital.

what an ordeal! i've been following along but haven't had a chance to comment until now. how is the kid? poor dear. must be very frightening for a child.

She's doing surprisingly well. Her main thing is that her mom was scaring her & she wanted outside help. Now she's getting it and is doing as well as can be expected. I'm letting her do whatever she wants within reason - let her pick where to eat dinner, what to watch on TV, etc.

there's more Saga to come. Houseguest was just Baker Act-ed into the psych ward. It seems that she hasn't been taking her pills at all... she had NO lithium in her blood samples, so the doctor committed her. I'll pretty much be watching the kid for the rest of the week while they get Houseguest back in shape.

Wow! That was quite a fiasco. I'm glad things have calmed down. Lithium is such an unstable drug. I hope her doctors find something better for her.

It is good that it's getting resolved. Hopefully the hospital can help her. I hope the kid is not too upset. Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to see if she can talk to a counselor, just to make sure she's dealing with this okay and not somehow blaming herself, if that isn't overstepping the boundaries or something. I am glad this is turning out okay-ish for everyone.
