well, maybe, sort of as a side effect. rachel & jenny's mom has breast cancer. she had surgery already, now she's having chemo and losing her hair. summerdun is their aunt elaine, who is also concerned/upset. i remember what having a parent with cancer is like - and mine was my stepfather and i wasn't too involved with taking care of him, but i did become very Responsible in other ways, living alone in my parents' house for months, dealing with all their finances, etc. it was extremely stressful, so i can only imagine how their mom's illness might be affecting rachel & jenny.
