I have spent way too much time customizing a style tonight... whee.
I've jumped on the bandwagon and adopted Refried Paper, but the thing that bugs me about it is the lack of flexibility... it's SO programmed that in order to change ANYTHING you have to go in and rip it apart. Anyway, this is the first time I have changed my journal style for real since Sept 2000.
I'm frustrated because the tables are so nested and there are so many empty tables (made to create a "line", etc) that I can't see where they start and what is nested and what data is in what block and so on. Lots of random TD tags. Basically, there are two things I want to do that I'm tired of trying to figure out. The major one is that I want to switch the two columns; I would like all the journal info to be on the left side right under my name and "20 most recent entries" (which i'll refer to as the "title info" from now on). The other thing is that I would like my user pic to be there too, but directly to the left of the title info. I want them to sit how they are now, with no disturbance in the way the lines of text look and line up together. Does that make sense?
If anyone is willing to play with it for a few minutes and wrangle the tables, LMK. I would REALLY appreciate it. Because of the way they're nested, I haven't yet figured out a way to do it without either making the journal and archive blocks take over the whole top of the page, with the events beneath them, or a way to have the picture in a sep table data block on the third bar at the top without forcing the title info all the way over to the left end of the page.
I am really starting to want to make a new public style just because this one is so, so frustrating (colors hardcoded into CSS?). It would be called "elegant minx" and it would be similar to Refried Paper, only, you know, a lot more streamlined and flexible. *sigh*
