I've been home for a few hours - went to Icky Chain Bookstore and Icky Chain Discount Store. The ICB was the most annoying - I returned a mess of stuff that I had bought on impulse and then not gotten into. Well, I exchanged it all. I ended up owing them like $12, for the stuff I got (a design ideas book, Borges: The Collected Fictions (which I have wanted for like a year), and The Girl's Guide to Taking Over the World, a collection of grrl zine excerpts. Oh, and a book by Frederick Franck, A Little Compendium on That Which Matters, for only $2 in hardcover.
The problem is that ICB did not refund my money for one of the books I returned AND kept my original receipt... so I now have no proof that I ever even bought it, let alone returned it. It's because they were having problems with their computer system. How much was the book worth? Well, almost exactly as much as I paid. *sigh*. I will call tomorrow, but I don't hold out much hope.
At Wal-Mart, I wandered around endlessly and got very little of interest. Things like tissues, packing tape, vaseline ('cause I am sick of dyeing my neck pink when I do my hair, and can never find the vaseline around the house), a Grinch nightshirt for my mom who loves Grinch stuff, a pair of sweatpants for me, some gift bags, more halloween candy for the evil neighborhood munchkins. Etc. I actually went because I needed an alarm clock... got that, too. I got a nice Timex cube with an amber dimmer on the display and nature sounds and stuff. The only feature it doesn't have that I would have liked was dual "his/hers" alarms, because some days I have to be up later than others.
The Cabinet of Dr Caligari is on. I've always wanted to see it, but I don't really have time to watch it right now, and it was half over by the time I realised it was on. It's in the plaza scene where Jane insists she's a queen and someone starts screaming that the asylum director is Caligari and is restrained. Heh... the women in that scene dress like me (except Jane, who dresses like Ophelia)... oh, it just ended as I was typing. I would have loved to have seen the whole thing!
Well, back to doing what I need to do. *sigh* I think I am probably going to go to sleep between about 3 and 4 AM. I warned my mother that the house was a mess and she said she wouldn't say anything when she gets here because she knows I have been sick.
