Jul. 28th, 2005 11:42 pmLatoyia Figueroa has been missing for over a week.
Latoyia Figueroa is not white, blonde, or a teenager. However, she is 24 years old, 5 months pregnant, and has a 7-year-old daughter. She is from West Philadelphia. The details of her disappearance are not characteristic of her behavior.
I am sure that the Natalee Holloway thing is tragic and awful if you are her relatives or friends, but I am not, and I am frankly sick of hearing about her, especially since it's apparent that they aren't going to find her alive. So I think it would be really helpful if our cable news channels were not ALL NATALEE ALL THE TIME and instead devoted even 25% of that current attention to this search. You can help with the Latoyia Figueroa case by posting this info, pestering CNN etc, contributing to the reward fund, or any or all of the above.
(I'm not saying that the Natalee Holloway thing doesn't deserve some attention, just that other cases should merit as much. And as much as Jennifer Wilbanks, Chandra Levy, etc. The life of a poor black woman should not be worth less than that of an upper middle-class white woman. In terms of race OR in terms of social class.)
