Just got home from Party Central, which in this case is a local place that looks like a restaurant from the outside, but is really a club. Not really my kind of club (I like 80s, punk, indie music - this was much more of a mainstream bar atmosphere). But it was all right. Was there with
katesterbp,
zi3se4dexing1,
kerroppi, and a friend of theirs named Alex. (I'm going to have to ask Ratna what the heck her LJ name means. I can't spell it!) Had an amaretto sour, conversed, transferred a metric assload of back issues of design magazines to the girls. We all met as graphic design majors but I changed my major. Anyway, it was a good time, but I'm so tired and out of it that I was a combination of ditzy and unconversational.
Before that I was busting my butt packing things. Very boring. I found an issue of ym from fall, 1988, full of really bad late-80s clothes and hair. There was a teen modelling competition in it, and Elizabeth Berkeley (of Showgirls infamy) was one of the runners-up! The terror, the horror, the bad clothes. I put it on the recycle pile but it's so bad that I kinda want to keep it. I'll console myself with the fact that I *am* keeping all my old issues of Sassy, from the same period. (Oh, how I wanted to win Sassiest Girl in America. Oh, how utterly unqualified I was. Plus, you have to actually enter to win.)
My mom took the cats to the vet's today. N-CAT IS FINE. His heart murmur has receded to the point where the vet doesn't think it's much of a problem. I'm flabbergasted because he and I, together, are terrible about getting his heart pills into him. I don't like to do it because it makes him so miserable, and he doesn't like to do it because he's a cat who doesn't like having a piller crammed down his throat and his mouth clamped shut, so he hides from me when he knows I'm getting the pill ready. Anyway, he's been eating this Science Diet Senior Formula cat food, and it's been amazing... it's actually been doing the job of his medication! B-cat, meanwhile, has some kind of weird light-sensitivity going on (his pupils don't ever get small), and we have to take him to a specialist after we move; he's healthy other than that. I am so thrilled that the kids are alright. ;)
Now I'm going to go back to busting my butt packing things for an hour or two, and finishing my laundry, and then I'm going to go to bed, because I've been awake and active all day and I think if I just try I'll probably get a decent night's sleep. (Party at
zoloft's house tomorrow! Hangin' with
hyper_ballad! Concurrently or consecutively, I dunno. Yippee!)
