I feel more awake at 1:30 AM, on my way to bed, than I did at 8PM. That's so wrong on so many levels.

We have frogs in the neighborhood.
These frogs used to be peaceful and well-mannered, and occasionally jump on the car, but generally keep to themselves.
However, recently this summer, they have FOUND THEIR VOICES.
These frogs do not sound like the cute little two-inch frogs they are.
These frogs sound like large, angry ducks.
QAAAAAAG! QAAAAAAAG! QAAAAAAAAAG!
It's like when an annoying tourist is in a foreign country and thinks that people will understand his language if he just YELLS. THE. WORDS. VERY. SLOWLY. instead of speaking normally. It's the tiny frog version of that. I feel like opening the window and yelling, "Listen, I have no idea what you little bastards want. Shut up and go to sleep like decent creatures." But I don't speak Frog, so I doubt that would work.

I am glad that my room is in the center of the house and has no outside walls.

Also: it has come to our attention that we NEED to go see the pirate flick again.
Be real nice and I'll wear another costume & tell youse about it, OK?

So I woke up and thought about running some out-of-town errands, but then I remembered that like 10 days ago [livejournal.com profile] katesterbp and I had talked about hanging out tonight, because she was going to be in town helping her parents move. So I'd been up for a few hours & called & yes, sure, we'll hang out, so long as her parents don't need her.

Within two hours I am running a fever of 101 degrees, accompanied by an incipient migraine & a lot of yawning.
(This may just be the "weekend flu" thing that I've been having on and off all summer.)
I took some Tylenol and decided to sit it out and see how I was feeling in a while, but things were not improving.
I really didn't want to stand Kat up because I have had to cancel like 2/3 of the plans I've tried to make with her in the last few months.

Thus (for once) I was happy to be stood up myself - Kat called to tell me that her parents did indeed need her because the move has to proceed a lot more quickly than she'd thought (one day, not several). I felt much less guilty upon hearing this.

I just wish there were something, anything, to watch on TV. there isn't. I'm probably going to pop in a video tape, finish today's work for [livejournal.com profile] intensefragilty, and go to bed early. I'm not a complete slacker - I did do laundry today, and I cooked dinner, and I took care of my dog. She was sick in her crate overnight and I've made sure that her crate and bedding were carefully washed out. She's fine now.
