I had a lot of Really Weird Dreams last night. I fell asleep right early, with my light on, even, and slept... oh, twelve hours or a little less. As other people's dreams are boring, I won't detail them, except to say that they were the kind that either cause or come from physiological functions: palpable fear and nervousness, running and leaping, that sort of thing. Lately my dreams have been full of helium leaps - leaps that lead into brief flight, leaps that feel, in my stomach, just like being on a roller coaster, even after I've woken up.

Today I am going to endeavor to avoid other people (especially those who have no words for me that are not nagging) and perhaps make a few bracelets and necklaces. I also have some final preparations for NaNoWriMo to get to, in the form of fun stuff like more research on 17th century shoes.

hail eris!

Yes, like all good Weird Kids, I own a copy of Principia Discordia. I like a good absurd laugh. I have too much exposure to Monty Python for my own health (notice how most Python jokes are now mostly annoying cliches?), and I have an obstinate, contrary preference for things that are arcane, inexplicable, entrenched in the bizarre. I do not feel that it is properly Discordian to do weird things for a reaction, since that requires an expectation of a cause->effect relationship. Weird things should be done for their own sake.

Nonetheless, in my own life I have a love for Order that borders on the Classical.

Many years ago there was a game machine at a local store that dispensed small plastic cylinders of toys if you could manage to push them off of the platform. The game was designed so that the successful player would receive one toy per win. I played. I am not successful with these games. Somehow, this time, I received a plethora of toys - a tin yo-yo with a map of the world printed on it, a small plastic "ninja" figure, a whoopee cushion, and most mysteriously of all, a pin shaped like a small golden apple.

I whimsically decided that this was a gift of Eris. a handful of silly toys accompanied by a golden apple? What else could it be?

nonetheless, I persist in Not Being A Discordian.
(not least because it would require a theistic sensibility I do not possess, but also because I really like to put my books and cds in alphabetical order by topic.)

you know, i made another bracelet today - a variation on the Lady-pillar one - and noticed that i forgot to buy more sterling toggle clasps yesterday. and i only have silvertone headpins and gold vermeil clasps now! well, that's not gonna fly.

i am going to WalMart a little later to buy some bead storage boxes. (yo McDill, I hear you about the cabinets, but where I live such things are a little harder to come by - we lack a degree of history here - and quite expensive - so little plastic boxes are a better choice.)

in a sort of entertaining/depressing thing, the momster has been getting domestic lately. and i mean domestic in a "house invaders" way - wanting to change knobs on cabinets, etc. so, she bought new knobs for the bathroom cabinets, and then decided that she hated the new knobs and, while she's mentioning it, the cabinets themselves. and she wants to do something drastic to the design of her bedroom. I told her that she ought to start by cleaning out her closet, which is packed to overflowing with Stuff In Storage and Stuff She Doesn't Wear. poor momster! anyway, we are going to look for some temporary solutions at the 'Mart tonight.

I want to publish a few poems; I need venues. any ideas?
