I am really enjoying playing with the digital camera... I have taken like 100 pictures so far, and one little video. i filled up the 8mb memory stick pretty much by myself. dumb stuff like some silhouettes of my neighbors' trees against the dawn and the rooms in my house. (I want to have a mess contest with [livejournal.com profile] ragdoll!) This is kind of weird, because I ordinarily don't like taking pictures. The little screen on the back that shows you what your picture will look like, though... that makes it more fun.

I'm kind of wired today. I talked to friends early this morning, then eventually went out for breakfast at my favorite new frog-obsessed diner (no, they don't serve them or anything... frogs are their mascot). Nice omelette with lots of veggies and some cheese in it, and home fried potatos. I then came home, put my cat in the window and then went outside to taunt him for a while, came back in and figured out how to clear the memory stick contents onto Little Boy, which involved installing some USB drivers. I haven't installed anything here on Fat Man yet... it was easier to just take the laptop into the living room.

(yeah, i know, I haven't used the terms Fat Man and Little Boy lately, so for everyone: Fat Man is my windoze pc tower with a lot of graphics power and RAM, and Little Boy is my momster's iBook Graphite Special Edition, and yeah, it's an atomic bomb reference. Little Boy is also a reference from Jonathan Carroll's book Voice of Our Shadow.)

I also did a bunch of really boring things like putting the glass globes back on the lights in my bathroom, but I won't go into that any further.

Last night I finished Sputnik Sweetheart, which I guess I liked, only it seems like Murakami just got tired of writing it and decided to end it where he got bored. Not as good as most of his other stuff I've read. People who like Banana Yoshimoto will probably like it. Now I am reading Watermelon by Marian Keyes... it is semi-fluffy, and I've only read a chapter or so, but I really like it so far.

I am so freaking tired. I've been up for almost 24 hours. It was a nice day, only with rain... so it would be hot and sunny, then rainy and windy for a few minutes, then nice again. No way to recapture my 6AM Moment Of Zen (tm daily show) where I sat parked at the beach watching the water and the sea oats on the dunes, drinking my coffee and listening to "hey, jude" on the radio. very tired, and very halfhearted about going out.

we went to best buy to get a gift card for my uncle... momster got the new moby cd. i got a psychedelic furs hits cd and this mammoth records 3-cd set. $12 each for mine! all 3 mammoth cds for $12 total. i also got a bunch of clearance books... a decorating one called Boudoir that's geared towards women and shows different styles of room (romantic, lolita, fetishy, china doll, party posh mod, zen, etc)... none of the "international" styles is really a direct gross stereotype or anything, just a sort of jumping off point with the kinds of materials you might use, what your bed is made of, etc. it's a neat book. we also got some terry pratchett books on clearance in hardcover, since the momster has recently discovered him. and i got the current NYLON, the berlin issue.

i came home and got email from C. about the letter i wrote her last week and my package (with the caged fairy and giant ceramic caterpillar). very long, couldn't reply to all of it. i have a surprise for [livejournal.com profile] jet - well not much of a surprise really - but i have to finish it.

but first i think i ought to sleep. i mean don't you agree?
