We went out to see About A Boy tonight, but were too late, so we ended up seeing my secret first choice, Undercover Brother. It is so fucking funny. Movie snobs won't like it, but people who like Austin Powers movies or the Charlie's Angels movie would probably like it. Lots of clever jokes, good action, fun costumes. Aunjanue Ellis kicks unbelievable amounts of ass as Sistah Girl, and Eddie Griffin is great as the title character. Denise Richards (who I normally don't like) pulls off a great Barbarella/Bardot parody. Chi McBride is Chi McBride (is there any other reason to ever tune in to Boston Public?). Chris Kattan shakes his booty and does an excellent grinch-style evil smile.

I have a nauseous stomach... popcorn + root beer. I have a salad to eat but I haven't touched it yet, and won't until I feel a little less woozy.

Since I've actually combed my hair and eyebrows, I might have my mom take some pictures with the digital camera. (However, most of you will never see them.)

Got email from Autumn today - she liked her package yay! Finally mailed her all this stuff I had been saving up for her and her family... some cds, a china teacup (she collects them), some star-shaped glow-in-the-dark soaps, a big Colorforms Dr Seuss floor puzzle for her little girl (who is, eek, 4 now... they grow so fast!)... I'm glad to finally get it to them and, I must confess, also glad to no longer be tripping over it every day. Literally. (Procrastination: it's a way of life.)

So [livejournal.com profile] katesterbp IM'd me around 3AM and asked me if I wanted to come over... she lives less than a mile away, and [livejournal.com profile] hyper_ballad was there too, and I wasn't feeling very tired, so I said sure. When I got there, they were pricing trampolines online (Kat's entire family is in Korea for the summer & she wants a party house), and N. wasn't feeling too well... she went to bed a little after I got there. I regaled them with stories of my thus-far pretty crappy weekend, between feeling sick both days and weird "disagreements" with a couple of ppl (what I mentioned, and also a short but heated fight with my mom in the car tonight when she figured out 20 minutes into the 25-minute drive to the theater that we were going to be late for the Hugh Grant movie and actually wanted to turn around and go home, and I was like, "Oh, no! We're doing something. I could have made other plans. Uh-uh.").

K. played with the new digital camera and N. and I did our best to talk her out of spending the same amount of money on the kind that uses a floppy disc instead of a memory stick. After N. went to bed, we watched some of the deleted scenes from Donnie Darko and about the first hour of Wet Hot American Summer, of which I'd like to see the rest. I just had to leave because I was getting tired & also (from forgetting to take medication before I went over) kind of dizzy, and I wanted to be able to make it home.

I think Yumi was asleep in the other side of the house - one of K's cousins, anyway - but I didn't see her at all. Bummer.

I got home and took pictures of the silhouettes of palm trees against the sky at sunrise. from my driveway. I think they came out pretty well.

and now I am going to bed.

Are You Pretentious? (are you pretentious enough?)

Are you sure?

(yeah, um, I've done a number of things listed. Including sitting around in my dressing gown on a Sunday listening to classical music and reading The French Lieutenant's Woman. leave me alone! it's not really pretentious if it comes naturally, you know. or... it's not affected. whatever.)
