OK, so today was Score Day.
I forgot to mention that last night I *scored an issue of this zine called Aquatulle, which is a sort of punk/new-wave/genx/80s-alt-culture magazine. It has a reprint of a very old fanzine interview with (HEY,
girlmod!)Adam Ant from before the first Ants album, when they were still putting out singles. It has an interview with Roberta Bayley, the punk photographer. Pix of people like Paul Weller and Gary Numan and Peter Murphy and Richard Hell in concert (some recently, some circa 1980 or earlier). Pages and pages of "attic" - just little blurbs on things you might remember, recent cd reissues, etc etc. Pretty cool. I wish it were more substantial, but given that it's someone's pet project, it's an enjoyable effort.
Today I went to the movies... enough said about that. During my runnings around I scored
*a bunch of $1 patterns from the fabric store
*weirdo czech beads shaped like dice, clenched fists, etc ($3)
*a bunny Pez dispenser (i didn't have it! for the collection!)
*a black convertible bra (on clearance!)
*jeweled titanium labret stud (i don't remember the jewel color. it's in my purse.
*an airline ticket for my mom and the $70 remaining on my voucher (which was expiring) put onto a new voucher. this means I will take a trip this summer, either to Boston or Ohio, I think.
yeah, by the way, it is the big sale weekend at Jo-Ann Fabrics right now; they have one every so often. McCall's are 5/$5, Simplicity are like $0.99 each, and lots of supplies are on sale or clearance. In case you're interested. The line to have fabric cut was literally to the back of the store today; I was frustrated because they had a fabric I've wanted forever, crepey black stuff with red cherries printed on it. Oh well, maybe I will make it out in the morning, and if not, it's probably for the best anyway, as I still haven't used the fabric I bought almost a year ago with the intention of making a robe.
I'm really beat. Bedtime!
