Apr. 12th, 2002 11:55 amI had a hair appointment today. My hair appointments are good predictors of weather, as I have yet to have an appointment on a day without severe rain. So, my newish sneakers are absolutely soaked, and I've just come home and changed into sweatpants.
I have had a nice break from the internet... no idea what was wrong with my computer, but it seems to be working today. I think it was a modem initialization problem. I get them from time to time, and if I leave the computer alone for a day or two, they seem to work themselves out.
So, what have I been up to? Well, Wednesday I bought a bathing suit (making me late for class) and went swimming at the new gym (after class), which was extremely pleasant and invigorating. I felt really energetic after that. I went home for a while, and then eventually got bored with sitting around the house, and went out again with an intention of returning some stuff to the craft store and then hitting the bookstore, but eventually only going to the bookstore. Ran into Brian there and then after they closed we went out to Denny's for a snack. Brian is obsessed with hitting round things with little sticks, between the baseball and the golf. This being baseball season, I will probably not be seeing much of him for the next few months. Pfft! Red Sox fans! *snert*
Anyway, I realized that I've basically forgotten how to do all swimming strokes except the freestyle crawl and the backstroke (my favorite), so I bought a good instructional book on swimming. I need to get my sidestroke back. I really don't have any use for the butterfly stroke (to me it seems like a joke designed to make amateurish swimmers get a lot of water up their nose), but I miss the sidestroke; it's lovely when you get it figured out. The book I got has good illustrations and drills and such and could even be a textbook for swimming. (When I took lessons when I was younger, the class was geared towards lifeguarding, so the only text we had was a Red Cross first aid certification book.)
Yesterday I dozed a lot because I didn't feel well (mega awful girlpain day) but got dragged out to the airport to try to settle a ticket/voucher situation. Was not settled. (I later found the necessary paperwork. whee.) My mom is going up north sometime next month, so we needed to get her ticket. It's a little more expensive right now than I remember it. After that we went to try to see a movie, but it was too late, so we hung out at the Virgin Megastore for a while, and then came home, and that brings me back around to this morning.
