My aunt talked to my grandmother's doctor yesterday, and he told her that my grandmother has less than six months to live. It's pancreatic cancer. Neither my grandmother nor my grandfather (who is slowly dying of Parkinson's) have been told yet. My mom may do the same thing she did before, wherein she leaves me here to watch the house and goes up north for a few months. She says however that she will not be her mother's main caregiver (she can't physically handle it, not after being the primary hospice caregiver for my stepfather, who was a paraplegic dying of brain cancer that had metastasized from the bladder, kidneys, and lungs). I dunno. I haven't really processed everything.
Because of thing two! I am pretty sick. Not much of a fever but an irritating sore throat (either its own thing or a result of postnasal drip). Every time I fall asleep the throat wakes me up after a few hours. Basically it sucks. I have cough drops, Zicam, orange juice, echinacea/menthol tea, and soup and sandwiches. I forgot to have the momster pick me up some kind of throat spray while she was out. I feel a little better after drinking a hot beverage, and worse after drinking a cold one. I'm just all floppy and sickitty sicky sick, poster girl for stupid December colds.
Updated at 3:14 to add: Hey, I do have a little bit of good news! I checked my email and found a mail from yesterday (I haven't been online much) from La Profesera to tell me that I got an A in my 2D Design class! (which is like basic art concepts with a massive workload.) She kept forgetting to register the grade for one thing I'd done, and called while I was out Thursday to ask me if I had done these two specific things (one I had, one I hadn't). She'd wanted me to call back by Thursday afternoon. I emailed her instead, and the points from the thing I had done made the difference between a B and an A... and I guess she put in the grade change on Friday. I'm so happy, cos I really worked my bum off in that class.
and now, to bed.
