Went out and bought breakfast and sat at the beach for a while. The local beach access places are all closed because of erosion; the tide comes right up to the dunes now. But this particular dune is rocky, so people are allowed to sit on it. A military man tipped his hat to me on the way down. I tried to drink my coffee but ended up just burning my tongue.
You can park about 20 feet away from the water line and a few feet above it, with the whole Atlantic ocean spread out in front of you, coming up to you and saying hello. I stayed in my car and watched the waves roll in and the breakers... good surf today but nobody was surfing. It's nice outside, probably low 70s or upper 60s, and about to rain in an hour or two, but the water is still pretty cold, cold enough that while I thought about going down and putting my feet in the water, I remembered that it would feel like an icebath, and decided to come home.
I was going to do the Alphabet of Bands thing but I can't. I filled in a few spots but then got stuck between Portishead/Pixies, Cocteau Twins / Cure, etc. ChrisBynum, please take note of the fact that you are not allowed to disappear like that again without my explicit permission. ;)
