I've been awake for over 26 hours!
But my art prof was very impressed with me. Not a big deal that I don't have the other stuff done yet. Just have to keep working at it. Tomorrow night is matting night. Meh. I have two things I like enough for my portfolio. I need to either develop a liking for three more of them, or ignore my distaste.
Art prof is at the point in the semester where she regrets the somewhat unrealistic workload she gives her students, because she realises that now that everyone has rushed to finish it, she has to grade it all. Best chance of getting an A on something is to turn it in on the last day, because she's far less picky than she would be when she had ten minutes to examine it in minute detail. I learned this today. I don't think I plan to exploit it much, but it's interesting to know.
There were two factions among my school friends today - the people who were up all night and the people who weren't. Two petite girls almost came to blows, which would have been... well... goshdarned cute. They're both the sort you want to take home in your pocket. It was a girl who works pretty diligently on her homework but still had been up all night working on a paper that was due today, vs a girl who always finishes everything early and does all possible extra credit and so on.
I got enough matboard and slipcovers to finish up my portfolio.
I also got the new Juxtapoz, which Cute Art Boy had today - it has a nice pullout Mark Ryden poster, for those who care. Also the newest Punk Planet with its Maggie and Hopey cover - an "art issue". I usually find PP really boring but occasionally they'll put out something worth looking at. The only other issue I have is the Brian Deneke Memorial they did like... sometime around 18-24 months ago.
Now I am taking happy sleepy pills and hitting the proverbial hay. I'll be up in the wee hours (but hopefully not wee-ing, if you know what I mean). Is there a scientific way to eliminate my need for sleep? And the fact that lack of sleep instantly adds about 8 years to my face? If sleep is for the weak then... look at me, I'm as helpless as a kitten up a tree....
