Went outside earlier tonight to find a business card attached to the front door. From the city Code Enforcement Officer. Guess what? He wants us to PAINT OUR HOUSE.
There is almost nothing wrong with our house apart from a few greyed patches near the foundation in front, which could be covered by putting some potted plants in front of them. Other people in our area have major rust stains and so on. We've been planning to paint the house sometime this winter, when we can scrape together the money, but... we weren't prepared to be FORCED to do so. & there are these really gross cinder-block duplexes down the street... I have nothing against the people who live in them, but the landlords don't take care of them, and they look totally out of place in the area, and they're not getting hit with code enforcement nastiness.
Pleh.
I don't think painting the house will be hard, though, especially if I can get friends to pitch in. Just kind of expensive. Grrrr.
