[note: I wrote this a few hours ago, but LJ posted it under the wrong time.]

not a very good day. i was crampy and lethargic all afternoon. at some point we decided to go out and buy birthday presents for two of my cousins, turning ages 9 and 27, and i dawdled in getting ready, not being sure what to wear.

we left and immediately returned home due to a frightening sky, and found that one of the cats, either B or N, had dropped a couple of smelly little presents. More like B, but N has been doing poorly today, and this looked and smelled more like N-cat-poo. Kind of a bitch to clean up (I'm still not finished, tho all the poo is gone) as he went on top of the smaller of my suitcases (unfortunately unzipped). it was protected until a few days ago when I took away the things I'd stacked atop it. anyway, i'm not mad at any cats - this was clearly SickCat Poo. N-cat seems OK now, but I am keeping an eye on him as much as I can.

after that, i lazed, took painkillers, changed clothes, watched the weather reports, and eventually determined that it was OK to go out. so we spent part of the evening at a bookstore, and drank hot cocoa, since the temperature was cool for the first time in several months. for my cousin turning 27 we bought a gift certificate, and for my cousin turning 9 we bought a Klutz book that teaches how to make little "flower fairies" - with floral wire for a body and a wooden bead for a head and thread for hair and the petals of a silk flower for a skirt. she should enjoy it. i also found this cool Curious George tin for $4, which is three stacking smaller tins that you can spin to make different pictures on the side. fun and funny. i will keep barettes in it. i like monkeys. i have two curious george shirts.

i was beginning to get a headache when i realised it was because i had eaten nothing all day except for a breakfast sandwich and a cookie. we stopped at a drugstore to get an electric heating pad and a few other things, and then came home, where i ate a nice chicken and rice meal with vegetables, and read the first few chapters of Thank You and OK!: An American Zen Failure in Japan by David Chadwick, which I've wanted for a while. now? some housework, and getting ready for bed. need to rest tomorrow. my first class is monday night. and it's the scary one.
