Aug. 7th, 2001 01:46 pmI haven't been online in two days... people who know me know this is unusual. I just haven't had the chance. Too busy. The good news though is that I've been getting more sleep than I was, and feel a lot better about that. I hate being all stressed and tired.
Sunday I went out and got mats for the pictures for the bathroom, and then sat at a bookstore for a while. Ran into my friend Peggy, who I hadn't seen in a while, and got her new number. She's back in the area so it will be nice to be in touch with her... she's a cool girl. Came home and watched TV and fell into bed, *thud*.
Yesterday it was just a bunch of errands, none of which really worked out. My mom took the wrong documents to the courthouse. We went shopping around for a suit for her, but couldn't find anything in a flattering style. Went to the school to pick up my book and library card (which is also the student ID), but the bookstore was closed so I have to go out there again sometime this week. I got my library card and checked out a few books (Steve Martin's Shopgirl and two commentaries on Plato). And since the college is slowly being renovated, we walked around to see the changes.
By this point I was pretty exhausted. We went on to a restaurant we'd been wanting to try, but left when we realised it's a buffet (gross except when Chinese, and this wasn't - the only thing grosser is a cafeteria restaurant). Drove a zillion miles to a more reliable restaurant. When we got home, I went to bed pretty much right away, but I stayed awake for a while to read.
Here I am. There is a lot to do this week, with the furniture being delivered on Saturday. Though none of it is as bad as it looks. We consider putting the old sofas (which are cool but ragged and cannot be slipcovered because of their odd dimensions) on the curb, but there are places in the house where they can be used quite comfortably, covered haphazardly with blankets and bits of fabric. But we have to make room for them.
There is a lot of "we" and not much "me" in this entry, but that's the way I've been operating the past few days. Today I'm feeling under-the-weather and have a need to get housework done, so I doubt I will go much of anywhere. Yesterday my exhaustion was up to the same levels as the ones that knocked me out of school, and I really need to take care of that so that I don't have problems in the coming semester. I'm looking forward to my classes, but I'm always like that... highly motivated at the beginning of the semester, then tapering off as exhaustion and ennui set in. I can't afford that, really, so I have to manage my health as carefully as I ever have before.
