Apr. 6th, 2001 11:49 pmHey... do any of you NYC kids want one of those $17 unlimited Metrocards? If so, can you meet me in the area around St Marks (maybe Veselka, since I know how to get there) sometime Monday afternoon or early evening? I'd be willing to sell it for $15. It's not valid on the Express bus I've been taking, and I had to buy another flat-value $15 Metrocard. Poo. So right now I am stuck with this unlimited metrocard I haven't been able to use.
I had a crummy day Tuesday - things kept going wrong. More on that later, I want to go to sleep. Today I went to the Sanrio store in Times Square (42nd St) and Bought Stuff... a few cuuuute stuffed animals, some travel stuff I need (it will help me pack!) and some things I will probably have to return... I lost my labret bead & had to rush down to Andromeda (um, Cassiopia?) at like 9PM to buy a new one, and I really couldn't afford to spend the money, so I need to return like $30ish of stuff. My new labret stud is a little bit bigger than my old one and has a flashy baby-blue stone (my old one had a clear stone, not as flashy).
I also bought Girl With A Pearl Earring at the Barnes and Noble in Astor Place, to read on the bus, and while it's interesting, I don't think it's that well-written. It feels like it was written according to a chart: Now I Must Draw This Section To A Close. I Can Flesh Out My Story By Describing How People Do Things. Etc. So it is most likely also going back. I'm making some headway in The Magic Mountain, though I'm way behind the rest of the Reading Room folk.
I went to Pearl River Mart on Thursday; also the Fluevog store. I loathe SoHo. I took a too-ambitious walk (for me) with too much stuff in my arms. I stopped in a neat store on Mercer bet Prince and Canal somewhere called Chimera - a little overpriced, but neat little things. I bought cups with Ukiyo-e prints on them as well as $4 soup bowls at PRM, and some Japanese candy I like, and I bought the Skiprope boots I've been aching for at the Fluevog store! They are tremendously comfortable.
I didn't do much of anything Wednesday but oversleep. Tuesday will have to wait; as I said, it was just one irritating mishap after another. *sigh*
So, that is what I have been about. I'm close to broke (must remind A to pay me that $35 she owes me). I ache all over - there's a major thing I want and NEED to do tomorrow, but haven't gotten around to, and I hope my general physical horribleness won't keep me from doing it. *plop*
Oh, I miss my house and my kitty and my own space and such. Blah, homesickness. I don't think I will know how I feel about NYC until I get home.
