Although I own many fabulous and pointless things, I have to say that the item that is standing out right now as the most fabulously pointless thing I own is:

a small suitcase.
it's black vinyl with silver metal studs, and is basically heavy black cardboard inside.
the main front and back surfaces are covered with zebra fur. (fake, duh!)
It closes with a simple latch and doesn't lock or anything.

I have no earthly clue what I'm going to do with it, but I love it way too much to give it up. I've only had it since September. Pleh.
I'm finally making the split pea soup I've been putting off for a while. I never had all the ingredients together in one place at the same time and the energy to make it before.

It all started when I bought this mix at the health food store, foolishly thinking that all the components of the soup would be there. Well, there were some peas and some herbs and a spice packet, but very little else. I had to add celery, onion, carrot, minced garlic, olive oil, salt, water, etc. I also had to add a "ham hock", which for our purposes is a small turkey ham, since I don't usually eat pork. I spent all this money on extra ingredients because I didn't want to waste a $4 soup mix! :)

It takes two hours to cook (aside from all the chopping and dicing and sauteeing and so on), and then... I'm going to have 3/4 gallon of split pea soup tomorrow! Needless to say, some of this is going into the freezer... the rest is going into my tummy.
:( where did absolution go? :(
I now am in personal possession of more split pea soup than anyone not directly involved with either the catering trade or a production of The Exorcist: The Musical! (often called, by fans, simply Exorcist!) has any living right to be.

I have a filled up 2-liter jug, and a decent-size rubbermaid storage bowl. And no idea where to put them, now that I think of it!

I'm eating some of the soup now... it is quite tasty. A little more yellow/orange than I expected, thanks to the carrots and corn in it. Mmmmmmm. Tomorrow's dinner will likely be Gardenburgers, a salad, and delish split pea soup.

If you ever run across the Bean Cuisine Thick-As-Fog Split Pea Soup Mix, which comes in a tall bag with a cinched top, go for it! I prepared it more-or-less according to the recipe on the back, and it's good. Be prepared to spend a little extra on ingredients, though.
Does anyone know what the heck the "To-Do List" function, on the Profile page along with "add this person to your list" and "memories" and so on, is for, and how it works? I haven't used the memories function yet, so if To-Do Lists are explained there, that would explain why I haven't seen them. When I clicked on it on someone else's profile, it said the programming for them was new.

T. and I just had an interesting conversation regarding the movies, the reasons why the only foreplay shown in a lot of h-wood movie sex scenes is kissing. Also about how the MPAA will tone down sex and language before they will tone down graphic violence, in terms of filmmakers getting a certain language. A recent study by the surgeon general's office showed that media violence has very little impact/influence on real-life violence, but still, it's a lot healthier to see a man's penis than to see someone's head exploding, and full-frontal male nudity is a big taboo. Weird culture. (this has all been said before, it's kind of a "duh", so I feel a bit trite about it.)

I also cleaned up the Pea Soup Mess and put everything away.

It's waaaaay past my bedtime and I am all achy. I'm going to have trouble getting up for school on Tuesday. I'll probably take melatonin tomorrow night to start getting back on schedule.
