Nov. 24th, 2000 01:54 amOh, so tired! I think I am going to go to sleep after I write this...
So, I stayed awake for the parade this morning, though it was hard towards the end, and went to sleep a little after noon. Got up at six, to the B-cat's insistent meowing in my face and poking my cheek and shoulder with his paw. Hopped in the shower and got ready, and made it to the restaurant exactly on time.
Dinner - they served a lot of side dishes I don't like (carrots, candied yams, and very very little cranberry - not enough), but it was still pretty tasty, between the mashed potatos and turkey and gravy and such. There was a salad, which was fine, and complimentary pumpkin pie for dessert. I ended up eating 1/2 my pie slice, about 1/3 of my mother's turtle cake slice, and a little ramekin of amazing creme brulee. All the desserts came garnished with a slice of starfruit and a strawberry and real whipped cream - the coffee came with a little pot of whipped heavy cream too. Very good service, though the restaurant, while supposedly swanky, seemed a little shabby in spots to me. They do have a lovely small garden out back with topiary and a pool of koi, and then there is an area in the restaurant proper called the "enchanted grotto", which is a small indoor pool with more fish. The koi there are amazingly unsocial - everywhere else I've been, the fish come to the top of the water to greet passersby. I couldn't figure whether it was because these fish don't get fed by strangers, or because it was cold.
and it was, by the way. pretty cold. for us, anyways. i was wearing a heavy cotton sweater - a pretty shapely green one from jcrew - and a black suede a-line skirt and black tights and flat shoes, with a hooded microfiber windbreaker. I froze. My mother was wearing a good deal more than me (pants and shirt, velvet, with a leather coat), and she was cold too.
We checked out the movies but decided we were too tired to go, so came home, and after chilling for a while, I pulled out some Powerpuff episodes on tape and watched those. Mum is asleep and I am about to be.
and I am THANKFUL that this day was relatively pleasant and that we had a nice dinner. Other things too, but I'm too tired to list them here.
