Didn't even barbeque... went out and got fast food, which I haven't eaten in a while. Now my stomach is churning! Neighbors were sending up some rather impressive fireworks, and I ended up putting out a fire in the yard across the street, by stomping on it.

I got this from mme sans_souci:

The main lines of my character. Gentle curvy ones, I hope.
The quality I desire in a man. The list could be limitless. Kindness, humor, intelligence, aesthetics, maturity...
The quality I desire in a woman. Kindness of the loyal variety.
What I appreciate most from my friends. Their tolerance. Their loyalty.
My principal defect. Procrastination. (Though I was initially going to say rigidity.)
My favorite occupation. Reading. Sleeping!
My dream of happiness. Hm. I guess to have fewer obstacles.
Who I would like to be? A perfected version of myself.
The country I would prefer to live in. An imaginary one that has all the good attributes of places I love with none of the negatives.
The color I prefer. Blue... royal/sapphire.
The bird I love. Penguins are pretty neat.
The flower I love. Roses.
My favorite author. I've never been able to choose just one. Lately I'm into Murakami.
My favorite poet. John Donne.
My heroes in fiction. Genji, Arthur, Dream, Spider Jerusalem, Konrad (from the eponymous book about the mail-order boy, which I always read when I was scared, as a child), Pee Wee Herman,
My heroines in fiction. Lily Bart, Guinevere, Louise from Written on the Body, Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden, Emma Woodhouse, Elinor Dashwood, Aerin from The Hero and the Crown, probably a ton of others if I thought about it.
My favorite composer. Pshaw. Purcell. I also like Mozart and Barber a lot.
My favorite artist. I think this is supposed to be short. Botticelli, Joseph Cornell, Clemente, Modigliani, Jan van Eyck, Remedios Varo, Kinuko Y. Craft, Michael Parkes
My heroes in real life. There is a song about this by Lush that goes something like "Don't keep heroes, it's no good, they don't stand up to life, just lock them in your soul and lose the key." Yeah.
My heroines in history. Eleanor of Aquitaine, Elizabeth I, Sarah Bernhardt, Murasaki Shikibu,
My favorite names. for what? a future child? a me? Miranda, Gwendolyn, most classic boys' names.
What I hate the most. I am full of vitriol which can be injected in any of ten directions. But probably a current american "conservative family values" standpoint. or the utter deluded self-righteous self-serving inhumane worldview that drives it.
The historic character(s) I dislike the most. Oh heavens. Everyone has to say Hitler for this one now, don't they? Pre-Hitler, probably, um, uhhhhh... fuck, I can't think of anyone. Probably someone whose "literary output" was crammed down my throat in high school, like Whitman or Thoreau.
The military enterprise I like the most. Pacifism
The reformation I appreciate the most. Dude, the Cleveland Browns.
Nature's gift I would like to have. The ability to fly.
How I would like to die. In my sleep, if I must...
My soul's present condition. Light.
The faults I can bear. My own laziness, preferring to read books rather than actually, oh, getting out of bed and such.
My motto. per ardua is in my family crest, and ad astra per ardua was my high school's motto... do you think someone is trying to tell me something? It basically means "despite hardships". A good analogue is Sarah Bernhardt's "quand-même", which as near as I can tell is very close to the modern "what. ever."
