surprise! it's a survey
Jun. 22nd, 2001 10:17 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
I slept a lot today. now I am drinking coffee, frangelico-flavored, and about to be eating rice-crust soy-cheese vegan pizza, which i love. and talking to ragdoll and mranthrope and enjoying my desk.
for some reason, my left foot, which is normally fine, is achy. my right foot is usually problematic. but the arch of the left foot really hurts.
i have something to post friends-only a little later, but until then, a survey.
I got this from ericka!
1. Your LiveJournal "user name": Verbminx
Explain what it means: it's from graffiti on a building in Cleveland that I thought was charming and adopted for my very own.
2. The "name" that you chose to use (if not your USER name): n/a
Explain what it means: I use my user name
3. i like the need a lot: ?
- The Stats -
4. date of survey (because things will change as soon as you finish it): 22 June 2001
account type: paid early adopter

friends (#): 68
communities (#): 22
memories (#): 9
posts (#): 774 entries
- Your Journal -
5. Why do you have a Journal page? Do you have a Journal page for yourself, your friends, strangers to know you, and/or everyone? it's an experiment in relative openness, an outlet for the need to scribble, a record of my "health", etc.
6. Why did you pick LiveJournal (LJ) over another service or handwriting? I like the way it works, with the comment boards and security features, and I like that I can just post when sitting in front of my computer, so it's easier to be faithful than it is with a paper journal.
7. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest) how well does your LiveJournal represent who you actually are? i don't know. maybe a 7, give or take.
8. How do you think your LJ represents you the most: stream of consciousness scribbling (mundane thoughts that pass through my head), notes for things I'm interested in... both to have them in a safe central location and to share with others who might be interested in the same things or might develop an interest...
9. How much about your life do you post to LJ? 75% perhaps.
Is there anything you refuse to post about? yes.
10. On a scale of 1-10 how interesting do you think your own journal is to others? golly. not terribly, though i try to include interesting features now and then.
11. From who / how did you find out about LJ? from ana, whose site i first saw in spring 1998, because a friend of my then-best-friend was obsessed with her and my then-best-friend showed me the site...
12. Has anyone ever joined LJ because of you? yes
13. How long have you been a member of LJ? I started posting on Sept 1, 2000. So almost 10 months.
14. How often do you post to LJ? usually several times a day (3ish).
15. What proportion of your posts are friends only? about 60% I think, nowadays
16. What is your FAVORITE interest on LJ (no more than 5 please - we'll all just assume that you like all of your listed interests to some degree :-P)? art, literature, anime, feminism, comic books, boys, yes that was six, you'll have to deal with it...
17. What is your favorite community on LJ? i don't think i really have one. i'm in a lot that i don't really follow. i run anxietypanic and feministas and also my poor neglected getorganized.
18. Have you ever learned anything new on LJ? sure
19. Has anything on LJ ever caused you to establish, rethink, or even change your belief or position on something? hmmm... i don't think so, not really
20. How often do you respond / comment on other peoples journals? at least a few times a day most days
21. Do you prefer to write in your Journal, read other Journals, respond to others entries, or get responses to your entries? aieeeee yeah all of it! but mostly i like to write in my own and get responses. i'm scampi the selfish shellfish!
22. What's the longest you've gone without posting to LJ since the day you signed up? hmmm. about a week I think.
23. What's the longest you've gone without reading LJ since you discovered it? several weeks, when i was away from my own computer.
24. What is your favorite post you've ever made to LJ? any that had useful links (Joseph Cornell, Voynich Manuscript, the feminist art show I went to, etc). Mr ScaryBabyHead was very popular, a few days ago - got the most comments of any of my entries ever. Anything narrative, about something that happened somewhat before I wrote it down.
25. What is your favorite post you've ever read on LJ? I have plenty.
26. What's the weirdest or funniest thing you've seen on LJ? the clothedparts community. a great riff on nakedparts that also has a purpose in its own right!
27. Have you ever specifically asked a question for people to reply to in your Journal (polls included)? yeeeeees. *sheepish look*
28. Have you ever tried to play the "trace yourself back through friends from a random LJ user" game? LOL... no. but I do sometimes find new friends from my friends' friends lists.
29. Have you ever played the "add a sentence to my post" game? haha... no. maybe i should!
30. Have you ever lied/fibbed in your journal? nope. but i have engaged in some sleight-of-hand and obfuscation. not lying so much as omitting.
If so, why? because i do have boundaries, and also sometimes to protect the privacy of others.
31. Have you ever had something mean said to you or been stalked, harassed, or got into an argument/flame war on LJ (or did it to someone else)? nothing serious.
32. Have you ever banned someone from your Journal? yes, but more as a preventive measure than anything else.
33. Has LiveJournal had any significant impact on your life? i enjoy it, i'd say it's become my favorite online activity.
- Friends -
34. Who are your favorite LJ friend(s) and why? oh gosh. i like all of them, otherwise i wouldn't have them listed. of ppl i met through LJ, i have really good rapport with a few, i think (incl but not limited to jet, syrxx, unquietmind, hilarykay, sparklegirl, etc). but there are so many who charm and amaze me that i just can't choose.
35. How many of your LJ friends are your friends in "real life" (you see them regularly)? hmm. i don't see anyone regularly. but i'd say a handful. i also have real life friends on LJ who i don't friendslist, for various personal reasons.
36. How many of your LJ friends have you actually met (but you don't see them regularly)? no idea. at least a few. friends from pre-lj.
37. Have you ever e-mailed or I.M.'d someone you found on LJ? yep.
38. Of all of the people on LJ you know of, who is the most like you? hm. that's hard to say. i'm a bit odd. people are like me in different ways.
39. Who is the most intelligent or insightful person you know on LJ? can't single it out. nobody is at their zenith of clever 24/7, anyway.
40. Who is the most fun person you know on LJ? these questions suck. i don't want to make anyone feel left out. people are funny for different reasons. however, i will say i was really disappointed when chrisbynum deleted for a few weeks, because his entries are chock full o' sass 'n vigor.
41. Who is your least favorite / most annoying LJ user or community? nakedparts
42. How do you USUALLY find new friends on LJ? i used to troll for people on my friends' friends lists, and also see who had similar interests in the directory of interests, and if someone popped up on many of them, i'd add them. this was when i was starting out. lately i've just been letting people add me, and then adding them if i can make heads or tails of what they write.
43. Why are you MOST likely to add someone to your friends list; Gender, User Picture, Specific Interest, Combination of Interests, Community, Geographic Location, Web Page, Specific Entry in Journal, Overall Journal, they comment in your journal, or they add you first? combination of interests, overall journal, they comment or they add me first.
44. Do you automatically add friends to your journal if they add you first? mostly, if they seem nice and i find their journal interesting and readable...
What is the most likely reason you WOULDN'T add someone to your friends list? can't follow their writing style, followed by prior bad experiences with them, they're close to someone i have serious personal problems with who i wouldn't want to see my friends-only entries, one of their major interests irritates me.
45. Do you care if someone adds you to his or her friends list if you add him or her first? it depends, honestly, how interesting i end up thinking their journal is.
Would you remove them from yours if they didn't? no, if they were very interesting. obsidian is an example of this. so is ana. i've been on their friends lists before, but i think my journal is kind of boring sometimes, and don't blame them for dropping me.
46. Are there any people's Journals (users / friends), communities, interests, or searches you frequent on LiveJournal that you DON'T or will not list in your user info page? yes
Why don't you list or link to them? usually they are close friends of someone with whom i had a bad experience. sometimes they just remind me of past bad experiences.
- More than Friends on LJ -
47. Is your "Significant Other" on LJ? nope
(If not, do they know you post on LJ?) I'm single! available and happy!
48. OTHER than your S.O., who are you the most attracted to on LJ (those who think this question means an instant argument with your S.O. may pass on this question, if you don't have a S.O. just answer it)? Gosh! I never really thought about it. I'm so happily unattached.
49. Who is the sexiest person you know on LJ? me. me me me! haha. um, seriously, i don't know. i just don't think about it that way...
50. Have you ever fantasized about someone on LJ? no
51. Would you want to know if someone fantasized about you on LJ? i think it would depend on who it was and whether or not it would weird me out!
52. Would you date someone you met on LJ? hm. i have had really horrible life-altering-in-a-bad-way experiences with romantic relationships formed online. so probably not. i'm not ruling it out. i'm just saying it's unlikely.
53. Have you ever wanted to meet someone on LJ? but i didn't meet them here! i knew them before and then they got LJs.
54. Have you ever actually met someone from LJ romantically (or otherwise) and hit it off (or not)? i've never met anyone IRL who i met via LJ. i have met ppl IRL who i've met through other avenues. we usually hit it off, but sometimes we don't.
55. Have you ever posted a naughty picture / post / story on LJ? vaguely.
- Technical LiveJournal -
56. Do you prefer to post from a Client or the Web Interface? Which do you usually use? I prefer and usually use the web interface. it feels more integrated.
57. Do you use HTML to add extras to your entries? yes, usually photos.
If no, do you know what HTML is?
58. Is your LJ page customized (at all - even from template), template, or default? the calendar pages are customized. i've been working on a style for the whole page. i'd rather wait til style2 comes out, i think.
59. Do you usually use the WinAmp music detector, add you music manually, or none at all? i add music manually, if i'm listening at all. i have to be quiet when my mom is asleep.
60. How well do you know the LJ features and how to use it (e.g. do you know you could edit or delete old entries, get live updates of your friends page, etc.)? very well, I think. there are a few I rarely use (memories, to-do list, etc) but I am aware of them.
61. What is your favorite LJ feature? friends and comments!
62. What is your least favorite LJ feature (one that you would change or delete if you could)? I dunno. perhaps some of the things about the ways communities (don't) work.
63. What feature would you most like to see added to LJ? gosh. i don't know. i'm happy. maybe easier styles.
64. What moods would you most like to see added to LJ? plenty of them. shy, intellectual, ineffective, goofy, etc....
65. "One day the directory will work again." How long until YOU believe until that day will come? haha. i don't know and i don't really care. when i used the directory the only person who came up locally was a girl i had no interest in knowing.
66. On a scale of 1-100, rate the LJ for convenience, usefulness, and coolness factor: 95
- Miscellaneous -
67. How many other surveys have you done on LJ? enough to alienate my readership, i'm sure.
68. How does this survey compare to those? it's more technical. it's lj-specific. it masquerades as something meaningful, i think.
69. Do you think this last question was added solely to get to this number or not? knowing People, probably. haha.
for some reason, my left foot, which is normally fine, is achy. my right foot is usually problematic. but the arch of the left foot really hurts.

scampi the selfish shellfish
Date: 2001-06-23 01:27 am (UTC)it's a reference from her comic MeatCake. If you go to superfly_ww's journal he has an interview w/ dame darcy linked, probably about a week or go, in a list of interviews. The MeatCake characters are described in it. I think the website is freewilliamsburg.com and you might be able to search for it there.
