I am very tired, but I am going to stay awake at least until 10, so that I can watch Sex and the City and then finish getting ready for bed, and read a little.
After my last entry I puttered around the house for a while, then decided to call my dad "just for a few minutes" - I think we ended up talking for two hours. My grandmother, who I haven't seen in years, fell last night and broke her hip and wasn't found until this morning. She had hip replacement almost immediately, is going into physical therapy in the morning, should be fine. She has also had a mild heart attack sometime in the past two or three years. She's 77.
This is scary for me because there was never a history of heart trouble in my family before.
Other than that, and my dad hurting his back and taking two weeks medical leave from work (he's four days into it and has already rented like ten movies), everything is fine with that side of the family.
While I was on the phone my dad made a few cleaning suggestions, which I followed. I managed to wipe down two cabinets, stuff a garbage bag with shopping bags, and after we got off the phone, clear up some of the pointless clutter in the Mess Room (which is a room in my house which isn't actually that messy, but its messiness is the nexus of the rest of the house's messiness; it never gets cleaned because there is no radio or tv in it and it's just very exceedingly dull and lonely). I cleaned off some of my nice (empty!) trunk boxes, moved stacks of magazines out to be thrown away this week, and so on.
Now I'm just winding down and getting ready to go to sleep.
