I stuck naturopathic ear drops into my ears, put some cotton in them, and slept on and off for the rest of the morning and afternoon. Still feel tired though, and will hopefully fall asleep early and stay asleep for a long time.
Watched Friends and the last half of Gilmore Girls, both of which were enjoyable. Winona Ryder, how you have fallen. You look skeletal from the front (though not from the side, where I am happy to see that even your sticklike upper arms are doing the same slightly paunchy thing that mine do), but your voice is becoming ever scratchier and whinier. I will remember the halcyon days of the early 1990s when I adored you, rather than finding you intensely irritating.
Watched the last five minutes of Survivor - the person I liked and wanted to win got voted off. Oh well. That show is amazingly exploitative. There is not a "million dollar prize" for the winner; there is a million-dollar payment for being forced to jump through hoops the most for the amusement of the American (and one must assume international) public. & the million-dollar prize is paltry... yeah, it's a lot of money, but you know, think what the network is making in ad revenues. Think what the sponsors are making. Etc. It's just creepy when you realize what is actually going on.
After that I felt like I had watched too much TV for the night and, being dirty, needed a shower.
My mom is on the phone with my aunt. It's super-angst week around here: she's worried about her mother (for a list of reasons I'll go into another time), about her exams next week, and also has a raging case of PMS.
Honest Tea's Moroccan Mint teabags make an excellent brew which I highly recommend to all and sundry. Somewhat expensive, though. I'm not sure exactly how much I paid for the box, but I do know that there are only 15 bags in it.
Time to make more of it, and go back to my reading, which has somehow caught me up. I'm actually ahead of schedule now. I bought a little thing at WalMart last night that is perfect for reading - it's a small plastic folder containing a dispenser of see-through "arrow"-shaped tape flags (for marking specific passages) and a notepad. Since my former method was haphazardly placing non-arrow tapeflags everywhere and hoping I'd be able to find the passage I had marked, and keeping notes on the piece of paper that was marking my place, I'm much more pleased with this new method.

BBC had a show called "Castaway" where an entire community was built on an island in northern Scotland & whole families came to live there. I believe it was done for the experience, and there was no "reward money" or voting people out, though some people were unpopular and either got in fights or just left. & overall it was a much more interesting and less tacky/disturbing show.
