like home, except messy.

Achy today but generally feeling a little bit better than yesterday.
I spent the morning... ok, early afternoon... hanging out with Tom, who'd been awake since NINE. (Poor guy. Glad he had a book with him.) Mom couldn't be coerced to cook until 1:30 or so and then it took her almost the entirety of Waiting for Guffman to whip up some bacon, eggs, and pancake mix. I don't really understand, and she's been in finely airheaded mode all day... asked T. to help her learn to use the espresso maker, which I could have shown her, and she decided that the steamed milk wasn't hot enough and blithely put the steel measuring cup into the microwave. T. stopped her from actually turning the microwave on.
He left around 4 and is coming back around 9 to hang out tonight. I've been trying to help the momster get her computer armoire into the house, which involved breaking down some shelves that were... absolutely loaded, but with no logic to where anything was placed. I think it mostly just landed there. We want to break down the whole system - these horrible synthetic spindle-based modular shelves from the 1970s - but we need to keep them there until we replace them, so for now they stay. She'd built them up too high a few months ago when she put them up behind the sofa. I broke down the top layer so that now they are level with the top of the sofa back, and act more like a console. They wouldn't actually be that bad if she took care of them & didn't just throw things there.
That's been my day. I suppose in the 2-hours-ish before T. gets back I'm going to do more housework... I really want to vacuum my bedroom and then get help taking the vac downstairs. I really want to do a million things. I wish I could get Mary Poppins here to teach me the finger-snapping Tidy Up The Nursery trick. Unpacking is for the birds and I've been in some state of packing or unpacking for a year now. I just want to be settled in.
