Yesterday, I was a little bit late leaving for the concert because my dog ripped and chewed up a section of the carpeting right in the doorway between the room I sleep in and my mom's room. Hence the bad "lesbian dog joke" - get it? get it? (she also kisses girls a lot. us!)

um anyway.

So, Frank Black was pretty great, played a lot of Pixies songs, rocked the house. The Catholics are tight. Dave Lovering, Former Pixies Drummer, is the opening act on this tour, doing entertaining bizarro "science magic" tricks. If you get the chance to see Frank on tour, go - it was an excellent concert, and I'm not even familiar with most of his solo stuff. (He did NOT play his song from the Powerpuff Girls cd!)

I was stuck as the apex in a triangle composed otherwise of smokers - what sucks is that the anti-smoking act that passed in November doesn't cover clubs, etc. It's not even the "I'm going to get cancer from your secondhand smoke!" thing that causes my attitude about this, it's more like, "I can't breathe, my eyes are irritated, and this smells really bad."

I finally acquired a sour apple martini. I'm in love. (Why do I always like the drinks that are green? and things that taste peachy....) That was later, at the britpop thing. Hence silly dancing to Beborn Beton in the sP0oKy part of the club. That was before I found the room with a dancefloor THE SIZE OF MY BATHROOM where the Brit stuff was being piped in from the bar. (it's not fair.)

Sights at the show: Janis Joplin and Grace Slick, IE two hippie-dancing girls in the front area who happened to vaguely resemble said hippie rock stars from behind. Yeah yeah yeah you should be able to dance at shows, fine, we WERE in a crowd of nodders with three dancing people. But really, I'm starting to think it depends on how you dance. Anything that looks appropriate for Woodstock (1969) is probably not appropriate for the show of a post-punk icon. Then there was the affectionately-named (REALLY!) MonkeyBoy, who was this guy who was jumping up and down enthusiastically but... well... not very accurately. He reminded me of a happy monkey. Right after I leaned over and said to B & C, "Look! MonkeyBoy!", the aforementioned guy started pumping both fists in the air, and I doubled over in laughter and delight. But I didn't feel it in a mean way... more like, Yeah! He's in the Happy Monkey Spirit!

I got my ass kicked in Scrabble tonight. Handed to me on a Denny's sampler platter. Twice.

Saw [livejournal.com profile] katesterbp tonight, & Siobhan (who has an LJ but I don't know it and besides if I revealed it she might saran-wrap my car). Gave K her bracelet, which she likes - I can now post a pic of it, but not tonight.

I guess I'm going to the Winter Park Art Fest tomorrow if I can wake up in time. Big fun art show in a park. We bought a lovely linotype print there 2 years ago and missed last year. The Momster is insisting upon going despite the trauma that has beset her foot (which is BLUE from pooling blood, because she has been too fidgety to stay in bed as much as she's supposed to). I don't even feel like dressing very nicely; jeans and an uncharacteristically loose tee, maybe.
