I am so achy today. It's my back, it's been bothering me a lot lately, and today it's just twenty kinds of stiff.

I have butter pecan ice cream, though. That is a goodness. I have a foot-tall stack of books to read. More goodness. Tissues with crowned frogs on them. Even more. And cartoons on in the other room... watched Shrek earlier, then Adult Swim. Sent thank-you notes to relatives who sent birthday presents, and put monkey stickers on them. The cards. Not the relatives.

I have many things I need to do, but I don't know where to begin.
That's how the paralysis of procrastination takes root, you know. Either one doesn't know where to begin, or one is terrified of making a mistake. I'm a little of both.

Incidentally, I'm a little pissed-off tonight because Salon's TableTalk went subscription-only (a while ago, without me noticing). I thought it would be part of my Salon subscription, but no, that only covers the site; to participate in TableTalk anymore it's $6.50/month, which I totally don't have and can't afford, and anyway, I never used TT enough to bother paying that much. I think Readerville is still free, though, and the kinds of discussions I liked on TT are exactly the same as the ones I've read on Readerville. It just makes me mad that things are getting so expensive on the internet, again. They were expensive back in the day (early 1990s, BBS accounts costing $15/month for chat, and also AOL accounts before they went unlimited use). I just can't afford to pay one fee at one site so as to not get dozens of pop-up ads, and then another fee at another site so that I can send notes to old high school friends, and then another fee to post about books, and so on. It definitely discourages participation. All I really want to pay for is my LJ account.
