I've noticed in quite a few different theaters I've been to the sound has been intolerably high. I also noticed that some theaters seem to have taken the glass partition out from the projection booth, and have to turn the sound up way high to cover the sound of the projector. I don't know why they do that, but I've seen it in more than one theater, so maybe there's some benefit?
