Yesterday: Having every opportunity to go with a gang of people to see a movie about Bukowski, I very sensibly went over to CJ's. She had a window between homework assignments, and we still hadn't done the Xmas thing yet. Niecelet in high dudgeon. I gave her a Winx Club doll, Musa, and gave CJ a fancy Jeffrey Fulvimari bath kit (that is to say, it has Jeff's illustrations on the box and labels, and it has a nice mixed-berry fragrance). All were happy, except that niecelet was overtired and feeling a little left out. My presents were a gingerbread housekit (yes, out of season now, but I will still enjoy it), a canister of cute ornaments that niecelet made out of bells and so on (very well-made for her age, I have to add), and a copy of
damedarcy's Frightful Fairy Tales - which I have wanted forever and ever and never even gotten to see a copy of before. Rock!
Tom, on the other hand, went to the Bukowski movie, where all our friends but him were basically pretty wasted. Tom doesn't drink pretty much at all. However, when he got home, he still managed to slip on the ice outside his building and fall backwards, landing on his elbows. He's OK.
Today: ran some errands with Tom. Library. Target, to return pants that were made out of too-thin material, and use the money for boring things like garbage bags and herbal tea. Barnes and Noble, where we spent a lot of time but did very little and didn't buy anything but drinks. Staples, where I priced a padfolio for work/interviews - they have a nice one made of black leather with an envelope flap closure, for $30 - and Tom priced computer desks and 19" monitors, since he is building a computer in the next month or so. Bath and Body Works, where I picked up two tubes of antibacterial handcream (my personal version of Adrian Monk's eternal handwipes) in "Mango Mandarin" and a red-bronze lipgloss in "Chocolate Fondue" flavor. I am not really enjoying going shopping lately, because there are still so many things I need to have a reasonable working wardrobe, and they suck up money I'd rather use on fun things or at least house things. (I need the padfolio for interviews and such, but I also need a dressy carryall tote, and a few more pairs of pants and dress shirts, and a few more pairs of shoes.)
Then home, where everyone else got to watch a tape of last week's Alias, while I got to be in the bathroom doing a reliable imitation of someone with IBS. Didn't even get to kiss my boyfriend goodnight before he went home. Did, however, call him to make sure he got there, and wasn't lying unconscious on the ice outside or anything!
