the end, or the beginning, of the week.
Jan. 23rd, 2005 11:07 pmWhich is Sunday? Some people calculate it differently. I have always calculated the week as beginning on Monday. That may be the influence of a Christian culture, or of the American school/work week structure (also dictated probably by Christianity - in a Jewish culture Sunday is not the end of the week, for example).
Anyway.
I was pretty slacked-out yesterday. Spent the day lazing around having terrible cramps, eventually took an afternoon nap, and in the evening, bought a pizza for everyone and watched Shrek 2, which I had not yet seen. I preferred it to the original; thought it was a lot funnier. I love love love Puss-in-Boots! Especially the infamous "cute look."
Today we lazed around the house all morning, over Tom's mounting protests, until going out in the early afternoon. I bought some buttons - the nicest is a canvas Pixies button, one each for me and T - at That One Mallternative Store. Bought a lipstick - Nars "Dolce Vita" - which I am not sure is the right color for me, maybe a little too coral. It's supposed to be a great color for everyone. It's the first bit of "nice" makeup I've bought in a while. Then, over to Target for a ton of necessities and a few fripperies. I finally got my laptop bag - the kind with the shoulder strap and two small handles on top, a good copy of the Acme style, for $25. I also got a pair of grey pinstriped pants which look as cheap as they were (unacceptable!) and fit strangely, so back they go, perhaps in favor of the purple shirt with dobby stripes that desperately needs different buttons.
Tonight - just doing laundry and getting ready for work. I have to make the decision tomorrow about whether or not I will stay another two weeks (otherwise, my last day is Friday). I am very tired, and pretty sick of secretaries treating me like a waitress (which is so not anywhere in my job description), but nonetheless I will probably end up staying. Why? Low resistance to authority, high desire to please, very limited finances.
Also: bummer about Johnny Carson.
