iconography
Dec. 18th, 2003 07:20 pmHey, it's
buttrflyaisling's birthday! Happy happy birthday to one of my fave LJ chums. (You are visiting me WHEN?)
Um... other than that... I'm so thrilled! I didn't know about the new development with exchanging invite codes for coupon credit. So I bought myself 8 months of extra icons and 2 more months of paid LJ (these should both expire around the same time). Happy happy joy joy! There will be some mighty nerdy icons coming up, I promise. I'm also going to start making some general free icons, which I'll post here... I don't have photoshop access right now (see previous rants about my bad, bad movers: i don't know where the program IS), but I just downloaded the PSP trial last night, so I should be able to use that in the interim! yay. these icons will also be nerdy. i had an idea last night for LOTR icons with Seal lyrics. Yes, THAT nerdy. it's really been driving me crazy to not have an image manipulation or HTML editor program to play with, since i'm used to having photoshop, illustrator, and dreamweaver.
Other than that... I'm just chilling out today. I might go out to Target in a little while (after Friends) to pick up the Sonicare toothbrush that the momster wants for Xmas... I have just enough money for it. I am also making her a little silk tucker scarf (with a small opening that the other end of the scarf goes through), and a pair of mittens, black merino with recycled-sari-silk cuff. This goes against my instincts in a number of ways - I wanted to make a pair of Glittens, but it's just too difficult with the pattern over at Red Lipstick vs getting the correct gauge with the yarn I have. I'm instead going to use a mitten pattern from The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns, which includes very basic and customizable shaping instructions for all kinds of garments in all kinds of gauges. More importantly, I really didn't want to make anything for anyone for Xmas, because I have unfinished sweaters and I never really get to finish anything for myself. But, this is for a good cause.
