I went to bed with my Stupid Migraine three hours ago; you can see how successful it's been. Can't sleep can't sleep can't sleep can't sleep. Momster forgot to give me Ativan before she went to bed. Bother.

I have put my departure back one day, because the movers are coming a day or two later than I thought they would. Hence, I'm not leaving here until probably late Saturday afternoon. I still have too much to do. I am Das Uberspaz. Lucky for YOU, I will still have posting access on the road, I think.

(I mean, lucky for the people who are interested in tracking my deteriorating mental condition, that is.)

Well, I got a new (to me) car today. It was a one-time chance and too good to pass up. It's a white 2002 Saturn, something fancy series. It has the fake wood panel dashboard and stuff. It's a little more fogey than my beloved 1999 Blackberry Saturn SL1, but fogey also has connotations of luxury, right? It's bigger and more comfortable and has more room for my doggie in the back seat and for my stuff in the trunk. It has nicer knobs, more features, that sort of thing. I think my mom paid about $8K for it, and she paid cash. (She financed the minivan she bought yesterday, cos it was good for her credit to do so.) They have a lovely Ion sedan in a gorgeous color called "medium green" (think of a leafier version of the Wasabi color that VW has on the new Beetle), but it was way too expensive for how much it's going to depreciate. Maybe my next car, in a few years, will be a medium green Ion sedan, if I can get one.

I also got a rad package in the mail from [livejournal.com profile] star_power... a book for [livejournal.com profile] intensefragilty and a neato mix cd. The cd is great because it has a handful of good songs that are new to me on it, interspersed with favorite songs that I know so well I can sing along and am thrilled to have all in one place, because ordinarily I'd have to switch between a bunch of cds to hear them. "Black Star" by Radiohead, "Black" by Pearl Jam, "Violet" by Hole, "Pink Moon" by Nick Drake, "Red Right Hand" by Nick Cave, etc. You should all be J's friend so that she'll send you cd mixes too. ;)
(Thank you VERY much, J! :)

In a bit I have to get back to packing. I haven't accomplished a lot today, because we spent almost three hours car-buying. Before I went to the lot, I took a literal CARLOAD to my favorite thrift store - packed up the entire trunk and entire back seat. I love the store because A) all proceeds help animals at the humane society, and might keep them alive a few days longer until they find homes, and B) every single guy who works there is super duper gay (in a very obvious way), so it's total faghag paradise. I gave them posters, clothes, books, a big box of ruby glass (collectible Depression glass stuff, my mom collected it for a while but didn't have any room for this stuff that she got on ebay a while ago, so donated it). Anything that didn't sell at my garage sale that I didn't decide to keep, which was most of what was out there. So anyway, dropping stuff off and going to get the new(ish) car - that's all I did today. I have to go pick up my prescriptions in an hour, and I have to get my stuff in order for the movers and start packing up the car. Then I'll be ready to leave tomorrow evening or Sunday morning.

The dog is very upset today.
I didn't sleep well last night. Headache and nausea. Now it's headache and sinuses. I bet the nausea was from postnasal drip. I used to throw up mucus every morning in high school, because I'd have postnasal drip all night and it would settle in my stomach, then the action of brushing my teeth in the morning would trigger my gag reflex. I learned pretty quickly not to eat breakfast at home, and arranged it with my teachers so that I could nibble a sandwich or cheese and crackers or something in my first class every day, cos otherwise I'd just throw breakfast up and have to miss the first hour or so of school. This is all very sexy, no?
