outta dodge.
Aug. 19th, 2003 11:13 pmso, did you guys know that Borders is having a sale on blank books and journals and sketchbooks and such like? Buy two, get the third free. My suggestion is that anyone who has any cash at all stock up for the holidays, if they can. I got three blank books tonight, but mine were on a gift card that I've hoarded for months. I bought out their stock (2) of my favorite hardbound notebook (spiral bound, purple linen covers with large bright polka dots and a metal bracket for a label - the pages have one side lined and one side framed for sketching or notes), and also bought one that looks like a fancy antiquarian book (like scratched-up red morocco leather with gold stamping, but with some mod cons). Also on my gift card, I got a book about John Dee called The Queen's Conjuror, which is strictly research-oriented for
intensefragilty.
(Reminds me that I need to ask around Pander and maybe
feministas to see if anyone has a copy of SLUT! by Leora Tanenbaum or Fast Girls by Emily... whosis... that they would lend/cheaply-sell/give me - I really need to look at a book or two of that nature as research blah blah blah. Right now I'm really interested in the concept of how a very young woman can acquire a Reputation through very little action of her own, and how it feels to be labelled that way. It's odd - I have the classic characteristics that SHOULD have gotten me the slut label, and it almost happened in 6th grade, but I was always too brainy and cold. Apparently being brainy, cold, and awkward can almost counteract early development of large breasts. I did get teased over them, but not in "slut" terms.)
This entry is all topsy-turvy. I went out of town today. The purpose of this trip was so that the momster could return some shoes to Nordstrom. She bought them when she had credit and could only wear them for about five minutes, but we haven't been able to make it out there to return them since then. When we got there, in the rain, she returned her shoes while I went to Sephora and exchanged some lipstick that was a huge mistake (the darkest Urban Decay Pleather lipstick pencil) for a pretty eyeshadow (I wanted Stila "Kitten", they were out of it, so I got Urban Decay's very similar "Sin.") I also added one of those cute little Lola keychain lipglosses. I spent - this is my total Real Cash spent the whole day, of which I am proud - $6. I almost bought really adorable pajama pants at Old Navy (they say "THE CAT'S PAJAMAS!" on them) but managed to contain myself and put them back. Doubleplusproud.
Then Borders after that. Then home. My dog was EXTREMELY excited to see me, and knocked me into a chair when I got home, and since the chair is on wheels, I went spinning and sliding across the room and into the card table that the printer is on, and the table actually got pushed around a bit! She doesn't know her own strength....
