OK, first, to get this out of the way - I'm sick again. Or still sick. Or something. Today I've been running a temp of 100.5 again, on and off. When I was at the dr's last week, she said that it didn't look like I had an ear infection, but that it did look like my eustacian tubes were impacted and therefore pressurized and hurting; I'm just hoping it stays at this level of discomfort (or, you know, LESS) and doesn't turn into a full-blown Infection of any kind (ear, sinus, etc). I also woke up really early after not-enough-sleep, so I've been tired all day. But I've been a little trooper and gone out and accomplished things.
Mostly shopping.
I swear, I went to Target looking for those little cases that you keep Game Boy Advance cartridges in, primarily because my branded bag for my GBA does not have room for both my cartridges AND my flood light. Failing that, I'm going to get a larger bag, or a case. (Have I explained before how much I love my GBA?) Anyway, they did not HAVE the little cartridge cases. I pouted. Whee.
But, I got a couple of key items:
New pillow, at mom's insistence. Woolridge DownAround. She got a full down pillow, which I wouldn't get because A) they're more expensive and B) they tend to not be supportive enough.
SuperGirl Underwear! These are girl's cut boy-style briefs (with the flap in front) - blue with red trim or red with blue trim, both with the Super(man) "S" shield on them. They are a fucking trip and a half. Seemingly pretty comfy too.
Balance Ball! This is such a luxury, but I've been wanting one for my back. If you can't afford an inversion table, a balance ball is soooooo nice to stretch your back on. You just sort of slowly sit towards the front, and then roll and lay back at the same time until you're arched back over the ball. Tie your hair up first if it's longer than a bob, or you will have Issues. When your hair gets trapped under the ball and you suddenly can't sit up. Also, this is REALLY REALLY difficult to pump up: it takes forever! But the results are worth it.
Nylabone Edibles Bacon flavor bones - a 2-pack for
arwen_isobel, who loves them.
Flowery blue pseudo-mandarin-style top - a pretty sort of faux-Asian shirt. Keyhole neckline. Pretty blue Japanese floral pattern. Pretty pretty. But silky thick polyester knit. So I don't know how often I'll wear it.
Fire and Hemlock by Diana Wynne Jones - I have an old copy of this from a used bookstore, but it's always been so old that I couldn't read it (allergies - some old paperbacks make my eyes itch badly). Finally a rerelease. This is generally considered one of the best "retold fairytales" novels, addressing the story of Tam Lin.
a couple of other books, magazines (New Yorker fiction issue, the new Knitter's).
Soup. Kool-Aid (for yarn dyeing). More soup. etc. Had to overbuy the Kool-Aid a bit, just by one packet, so I ended up making the packet of Kool-Aid when I got home. It's really not something I drink very often or would want to drink very often, but there are some days when Cherry Kool-Aid sure hits the spot.
I feel very luxurious, with my new pillow and my new underwear and my new backache reliever. Yay!
(But still sick-like. So I'm gonna wash my face and go to sleep.)
