Mmmm, sweet sweet sleep.

You will note that I have, once again, rejoined the living at an acceptable hour.
(Granted, it was after going to bed at 3PM and sleeping for 15 hours, but we do what we can, no?)

I woke up to a cookie and apple cider. Thanks, mom! Now I'm drinking my favorite jasmine tea, and I scared up some honey to go with it. Normally I don't sweeten it, because I use stevia and it overpowers the flavor a bit, but I don't mind using honey now and then, and honey adds to the flavor.

Around this time yesterday, I was insanely hungry. I ate this giant-size box of bagel bites - 18 of them, and then later I had 4 eggs scrambled with cheese. Am I having another growth spurt? I sincerely doubt it; most people don't have growth spurts in their mid-20s....

Today's agenda: Dumb Errands. Also, perhaps some muffins.

Instead of accomplishing, um, the tiniest thing today, we ended up going to Panera for linner (or dunch, whichever you prefer to call it). After that I went into a bookstore in the same plaza for "five minutes" (I wanted to see if they had the new Knitter's) and ended up there for at least an hour or so.

I found my calendar! I'm so happy, I've been looking for it everywhere. Kinuko Y. Craft is just about my favorite illustrator. I also found the new NYLON and the current ReadyMade. ReadyMade needs to cool it with the ugly wallet patterns. 2 patterns in 4 issues? and they both look pretty ghetto? eek. nothankyou. it's such a boy magazine. but i like it anyway. I got a paperback short story collection edited by the Datlow/Windling team called Sirens, which looks good. Some favorite writers have stories in it.

So far from cracking on Judith Swartz's Hip to Knit, I would have bought it today if it had been a little bit cheaper. It has a pattern I've been pondering. I also found the Vogue American Designers collection, which has a really cute Elizabeth Zimmermann pattern in it... the "Tomten Jacket" for little kids. It's a sort of a-line tunic jacket with a very pointy hood that stands up. Tomten is the Swedish word for a domestic elf, like a brownie in English.

After that I ended up coming home and not going out again to finish what I needed to finish (it can wait). We decided to watch the FOTR extended edition, but couldn't make it all the way through. So, the intrepid adventurers are sitting in Moria and I'm not sure I like the extension, honestly - the deletions helped the pacing of the film.

and I'm going to SLEEP now. goo'ni'....

(oh, that title. it's my favorite thing that's come out of the slogan generator everyone is messing with this week. i also got the somewhat terrifying "Kills all kinds of Verbminx - DEAD" and "How do you eat your Verbminx?" Erm, thanks but no thanks, guys.)
