Sep. 21st, 2002 11:04 amI love insomnia. This is all because of that nice nap I had last night.
I put this useful time to work... ordered some zines, because yay Pander is open again. Though the length of the vacation this year is perfectly understandable. I'd initially selected something like $65 worth of stuff, but I scaled it back a little. To 20 zines.
Read my grandmother's obituary, written by my uncle, who forgot and left me out of it, among all my cousins (half of whom are his kids)... it hasn't been published or submitted or anything yet, so I just dropped him a line pointing out the omission.
I need to write a paper for my Philosophy course from last semester... none of my topics have panned out so far, in terms of research, so I'm thinking of writing about Hume. Yes, I got an extension on the paper, I have until December to finish it. Two-hundred printed-out pages trying to justify 2000 words comparing Platonic philosophy to Pure Land Buddhism, and I just don't think I'm going to be able to put it together. So, Hume. Now I just need to think of things to say other than "Hume is THE MAN." (My mom would never let me take religion or philosophy classes when I was in high school because she was afraid I would be pulled off the path of xianity... which I wasn't ON to begin with, but never mind that. I can now say that I at least see her point in that I think Hume could make an atheist or at least a very heavy agnostic out of most rational people.)

secretarial musings. hi, i'm trendy!
Sep. 21st, 2002 11:58 amoh, oh oh. yes and.
the trendy thing right now seems to be to want to see Secretary, judging from what I see both from you people and from various boards I read. i was skeptical, because for a while it just seemed like residual Gyllenhaal worship by The Cult Of Donnie Darko. (not that that's a bad thing, but it doesn't necessarily make a new movie worth interest.)
but OMG it looks sexy and JAMES SPADER.
do not make me relate my shameful, shameful crush on James Spader.
jamesspader. *swoon*
he can be my exacting typing taskmaster anytime.
(I did really well on the typing test at the official site, by the way.)
i don't know how this happened. too many 80s movies? stargate?
(hated it, but he looked so cute as the Nerd Hero...)
so i'm going to have to go see this movie.
shut up, i know i'm acting like a girl.
i've confessed; now i have to go be embarrassed about it.
(PS - if you're interested in reading the story that the movie was based on, it's HERE. if you happen to be a young'un who I would not wish to lead to feelthy leeterature - you know who you are, those of you who are fifteen and sixteen years old - use yr discretion. the story is kind of disturbing.)
