I am super-tired! Time for bed.

After my last post (which was friends-only, detailing Way More About My Family Than Most People Need To Know), I eventually ended up going out. Scoped a craft store I don't usually go to; they have some nice Japanese rocaille beads which would be good for peyote stitch and such, but not anything I need right now. Otherwise they are generally understocked compared to the other store I go to.

After that, went to TJMaxx, right before they closed. Bought my mom a briefcase, and me some soap (yummy Crabtree & Evelyn "cooks" stuff with rosemary and orange and cinnamon and such) and a pair of those strange sneakers with the cut-out heel and the little padded strap over the achilles tendon, in black, grey, and burgundy (where the shoes in the pic are blue, white, and lighter blue). I paid. & we went to the bookstore after that for a snack, then came home & watched The Mummy Road Show (which is a minor obsession of mine lately) & Six Feet Under.

(oy. i failed ethical shoe-buying 101 again tonight. these are made in china. the only redeeming feature is that i paid like 1/4 retail for them.)

The briefcase for my mom is so that she has something to put her laptop (iBook) in while she travels. My calm Taoist uncle, not given to alarm or drama, says my grandmother is fading fast, so my mother wants to go up there (Ohio) to see her & talk her into hospice & such. & I did talk to my mom about how I feel about the DNR order, and it turns out that pretty much everyone agrees with me, they just can't get my grandmother to agree to it. (even after my bitchy uncle said to her, "do you want to just die over and over and over?")

Got mail from C today; the Z-monster, who will be 2 years old in 2 months, is saying her ABCs! and she's still obsessed with Alice in Wonderland. C. is working in a daycare center & almost has it together to move out of her parents' house. her computer is broken right now though.

Also got zines today... everyone should run over to pander and order, let's see... inside the test, france and amber's apartment, red hooded sweatshirt (marissa = cutest thing ever), american action, in-between, the two newest girl swirl fanzines... the two that girls available right now... there are others i have that are more theory-laden and textual and so on but i haven't gotten into them as much (external text, subject to change, her side of the sidewalk)... i'll have more to say at another time. i've really liked the last couple of orders i've made, which is why i've been trying to order more frequently (besides, i like to help give ericka a reason to go out and get her daily coffee). ;)

I just had a slightly surreal moment when I looked at my "friend of" list and saw that it had leaped up by about ten people. I blinked. Then I blinked again. Then I blinked a third time. (Um, I just woke up an hour ago after sleeping for 12 hours and having dreams of... all kinds of things. It was some weird stuff. Earlier in the night I was staying with relatives and the B-cat was killed due to various kinds of negligence; later I was in charge of the keys to a really nifty Korean stationery/toyshop and there was intrigue and long bike rides involved; later than that was something weird and romantic involving cute goth boys who wouldn't be my type IRL; still later I was shopping and I had a newborn - no, not related to the goth boy - who happened to be a kitten.)

I then started looking to see which of my friends had namechecked me in some "she is so fab. you cannot imagine her fabness." way (awww, shucks), only to find that not many of the new people had any friends in common with me.

Oh! It's that "commonalities" search tool thing.
I did mine yesterday, I think... it was odd because the highest person i knew on the list was someone who just dropped me & with whom I had been slightly uncomfortable because of their real life frienditude with someone who is a real life ex-friend of mine. Below that, much further down on the list, it was ppl like [livejournal.com profile] ragdoll and [livejournal.com profile] candles who I've known forever. I don't think ppl who joined at my urging (like ragdoll) are surprising, but not because we've known each other forever, but because I think it's pretty common to look at the interests of people you already know and "early friends" to make up your own interests list (like, "oh, yeah! I like that! I should put that on my list!")

anyway, I haven't really gotten around to adding people yet; that may take me a few days. I am a tired bunny with lots of schoolwork that needs to be done (and, er, a batch of people to check out for [livejournal.com profile] feministas). But hi, new people!

usagimochi vs kittyloaf! could be a pizzicato five tune! )
